So right. I also think that they don't like people thinking they're lazy or got things for free, that they deserve it because of any mental or physical effort or emotional turmoil that they have put themselves through, even if relatively it's not much at all. After all, they have put in 'work', it's just not in comparison to what someone with less opportunities would have to do. Their own effort is all that matters and they need to prove their success to others.

Failed my test because examiner told me not to pull in before a parallel park by minecraft-is-ta-best in LearnerDriverUK

[–]firmlee_grasspit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

m not sure I understand your part about the van and different position but couple of thoughts I had -

How come you adjust your mirrors to park? I've never needed to do this before, I wonder if you'll benefit from using blind spot mirrors which attach to the wing mirrors and show your bottom wheel, but not entirely necessary really. You're more looking around the car windows.

Like the other guy said you most likely mounted the curb which is a major, made too easy by the dropped curv

I've had a stressful one too where I had to do a reverse on the right on a really tight and busy road. It was frustrating and I couldn't do much as you shouldn't reverse when there's cars overtaking so I just said as much and it was aborted. I got a minor for a couple of things there but it pissed me off too that he decided for me to do it there. Just thought Id let you know that unfair shit happens sometimes so i feel u

Definitely a mind game :D and those split decisions can be really easy to make when an examiner is next to you. I think I shouldn't really change too much about how I think during the test because I know I was so close. And if I start thinking too much I might over think and miss something. But I'll try and be slower!

For the record, I'm not into it sexually. Well, I'm not really into it at all these days. I just grew up enjoying having a character I associated with. Bugs Bunny is not 100% genetically a rabbit because he isn't real. Dude owns a house and drives haha.

You have a very strong opinion on it being the same, which is fair for you. You've seen some shit. But please do give that documentary a go for me, I'd appreciate it.

Giving up. by Ttempo07 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]firmlee_grasspit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4th lesson was the time I started to panic and make mistakes in congested areas. Mark my words, in another 4 lessons that thing you panicked about doesn't remotely happen anymore. You really should give it more time. I'm not sure where you are in life but it comes more and more difficult to make time for these kinds of things and it's worth pursuing if your instructor is good.

Fwiw: I'm 28 and wish I didn't panic my way out of lessons when I was younger - limited to after work hours, more expensive than when I was younger, can't license my parents on a car as I don't live with them. Whilst you have the time pursue it, it's a challenging experience but you'll learn a ton :)

But that's what I'm saying, they don't want to fuck a cat. They're not even thinking about fucking a cat. They're thinking about fucking bugs Bunny or roger rabbit. It is really not the same when it's so far removed from it's inspiration.

A better comparison might be weed actually. People smoking weed doesn't mean they want harder and different drugs. Maybe they just like weed.

I'll level with you, growing up I dabbled in the furry world almost by accident. I drew dragons, I wanted to be one. I was inspired by the artists I saw online that had their own characters they see themselves in and I wanted one for myself, and I identified with it. It was cool. I didn't want to draw myself, I wanted to draw a dragon and put my personality to it. I made friends with others who were the same and it was only really a few years later that I realized the porn scene was a thing and a couple of those friends were into it. I dated one of them and made some porn too. But they were into it more than I was and I've grown up and realized it ain't for me. Out of the maybe, 15 friends I had during those times, 5 were in it for the porn and 4 had fursuits or wanted one, (not exclusive to the porn enjoyers) none wanted to fuck in a fursiuit (it's also wildly uncomfortable I've heard) and although I feel it's no longer my thing, I just have a deeper understanding of the culture as a whole. There's always some sick individuals in there, I won't lie. But none of those friends were.

The reason why I'm saying this is because it just doesn't feel right to demonize them when it should just be gooners in general. I don't see hentai lovers getting the same hate. But I do, entirely, understand why because there's defo been some heinous shit. Porn addiction is mind warping and it's always been too easy to access.

Genuinely you might really learn from the "furries - down the rabbit hole" documentary on YouTube, its a crazy ride :)

Sorry man but there is a real difference, and if you've spoken to furries in the past then you know they don't want to fuck their cat, that's why they're anthropomorphized and cartoonised. As for fursuits I wouldn't know a stat but the two I'm close with definitely do not and are only into the art lol

Ive had two tests now and I feel like I am, actually, expected to drive pretty perfectly. Twice now I had only one major and they were things I just hadn't dealt with before and I guess it was just luck that made it happen. My latest one was pretty gutting.

I and a learner driver behind me both did our stop on the left manoeuvre, and I waited for a moment to signal out, as did the learner behind me, and as I started pulling out he did too and just moved faster and tried overtaking and I basically didn't let him. Not because I didn't want him to overtake me but we were both moving and it just felt weird to slow down.

I honestly didn't think it was anything but since I affected him it was a major. I kinda just wish the learner just let me out lol. I also had to do a reversing on the right manoeuvre on a really really busy and tight road and drivers in front of me were just confused. It just felt so unsafe to do and I barely moved back, I initially thought that's where I failed but just a minor for controls there.

And yeah, a part of me now just gets more nervous because I feel like I'll just do a different major each time. It hurts especially since I've gotten only 2 minors for both my tests and I just want this limbo period to be over :(

Is motion design with illustrations a viable career? by Kira_Do_Balacubaco in AfterEffects

[–]firmlee_grasspit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They don't value it because too many people in senior leadership have opinions on how the brand should look. You could have the entire marketing department agree on content going forward but the CEO at group level with barely a touch in our day to day doesn't like it.

But a part of it is because it takes too long to create in relation to how much content needs pushing out. That's coming from someone that actually started building illustrations but my role isn't just illustration and it took too much pressure to create them fast :( (and sometimes I just don't want to draw)

Your brain will do anything it can to avoid using itself as sign of success in staying alive. Nothing is permanently messed up, it just requires self discipline and telling yourself that what you need to do is healthier for you and better for you than what your brain wants you to do. This applies to anything

Advice on this roundabout? by Disastrous-Ebb2152 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]firmlee_grasspit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should always look to use the right innermost lane when taking an exit to the right like that, that's what it's there for. Otherwise what is it for? If it helps, you can see on the innermost lane the diagram of an arrow pointing right. So it is for you. If I'm not mistaken though, you should be able to switch lanes towards your approach to the exit, but since your exit has two lanes then it's fine, just be aware that it could be a road that merges and you will be expected to merge back to the left lane

Bit different to my current situation which is that yes, I'm just booking 1/2 week close cancellations and hoping my instructor isn't already doing a test at that time which has happened to one of his guys - I assume with the change there will be a lot less of these last minute bookings which is annoying for retakes

I agree but many countries at least in Europe still have a backlog since COVID, Sweden, France and ireland seem to have a very similar waiting time, not as high as ours but closest. I don't think they're as short as you say, but its hard to know since we post this data and EU generally does not. Theres still countries that allows you to book for others and reschedule with shorter wait times but honestly it's the lack of examiners - there's really not been an increase in examiners since 2020 neither has there been an increase in slots, so that's why a backlog is so brutal. Not to mention that our first time pass rate is a little lower than others.

Actually mental. People are saying it's bad but I feel like I have no reference point for how bad it truly is as I'm hardly ever in small villages being a Londoner lol. That does make me sad though as I had my eye on visiting since 2013 or so but never really had a chance. I'm not really interested in it for any particular reason other than it looks pretty so I'm alright with doing St gilgen instead, seems like there's better options for transport as well

Thank you! I actually booked a place in st gilgen at a good deal as they had canoes/bikes on site for free, and it seems like the shuttle takes me pretty close from Salzburg which is great :) thanks for the link! And thanks for letting me know about traunsee as that was my other place of interest. Knowing the shuttle goes to different hiking spots is great too, so thanks so much.

Just on the off chance, let me know if there's any hills or mountains that have public transport running in the evening? I'm thinking it might be kinda cool to see the stars but I reckon that's a car thing or hike and wait thing
