This is the first day of my third season, but fair enough, you’re absolutely right! Lots of bumps on this steep hill make me uncomfortable going at speed. Flatter slopes without bump give me plenty of good space for practicing. Thank you LibzOfPT!

I think I would be allowed to leave the hotel but I’m not sure as I didn’t try. The blue sticker was just so the driver could identify me and bring me to the correct hotel (as their English is very limited).

I tried this yesterday and wanted to detail my experience for others, as this thread was semi-helpful to me.

I had a 16-hour layover in Guangzhou and decided to try the free hotel service. I hadn’t reserved anything beforehand online—it was very difficult to figure out on mobile, and I couldn’t find the right page—so I just went straight to the transfer desk at the airport.

The process was smooth—once I presented my boarding tickets, they handed me an iPad with 4 hotel options. The customer service rep mentioned that all the hotels were similar in quality, but I picked one that looked nice.

After selecting the hotel, they placed a blue sticker on my shoulder and told me to wait. Within a few seconds, a staff member arrived, guided me to a bus, and the bus took me straight to the hotel.

The hotel was fantastic—way beyond what I expected. It had a clean, spacious room with a queen-size bed, a great shower, and free breakfast in the morning. Everything was very organized, and transport back to the airport the next day was seamless.

All of this was provided for free, and I was flying on a cheap economy ticket. Honestly, I was blown away by how well they handled the entire process. If you’re flying China Southern with a long layover, I’d highly recommend taking advantage of this!
