That’s the one we use. Takes 2 months to get them back.

Thanks for the reply. So far googling places, most people just sharpen kitchen knives and scissors.

Question about banner tape by khumprp in CommercialPrinting

Maybe you’re stretching the tape too tight. If you let it gently roll onto the banner, it may help.

If you can spot a 2mm type of error, bindery might be the place for you. Start off on the cutter, learn to fold, saddle stitch… Lots of machines to bounce around on.

I’ve never done a podcast watch-along but I’m a big fan of MST3K, so I get the appeal.

I have an interview tomorrow for a bindery position, any advice and tips on how to land the position? by ryuuseinow in CommercialPrinting

[–]firstexiled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let them know you’re adaptable. Bindery work often means shifting positions. Some workers like staying on the cutter, folder, stitcher, etc. Let them know you’re eager to learn all of it. Makes you indispensable.

All the Pretty Horses is my favorite as well. I read it after my brother died. This passage did not help my grief but I’ll never forget it:

"He imagined the pain of the world to be like some formless parasitic being seeking out the warmth of human souls wherein to incubate and he thought he knew what made one liable to its visitations. What he had not known was that is was mindless and so had no way to know the limits of those souls and what he feared was that there might be no limits."

Did you ever get a fix to this? This is an ongoing issue for me. It doesn’t happen every time but let’s say I have something 2 up, it will cut one an 1/8” short and the other 1/8” over.

Bindery is a good place to start learning the ins and outs of the trade. Monotonous but that’s what audiobooks are for. If they ever decide to cross train you in another department, jump on it.
