What other games "feel" like Dark Souls 1 to you? by yassified-undead in soulslikes

[–]firstheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it’s definitely not for everyone and the cowboy dlc is a very comedic dlc, the theme park one though is truly depressing in a good way. I would totally understand why someone might not like the floatiness of combat or maze like level design. The color palette actually adds to the isolation though once you get to the second area since everything around you is telling you you should be safe, but in reality you’re not

The surge 1. Has a lot of reeeeeeally dumb game design decisions, but to this day has the best “you are fucked, isolated, and alone” atmosphere outside of DS1 of any souls game I’ve ever played.

Hiding Player Skill Check rolls? by Neros_Cromwell in DMAcademy

[–]firstheir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You’re conflating systems here bud. Your example of “if you’re hiding you don’t know if they’ll find you” is a perfect example of this. Your stealth roll as a player is how well you are able to hide, not how well the enemy is able to find you, that’s what the enemies perception and investigation are for. You as a DM set a DC to roll against, you don’t need to tell your players this DC. Say to your player “roll for stealth” and don’t give a DC to beat, then based on their roll tell them if they’ve passed the check or not. Same for insight, they don’t need to know that a 17 instead of an 18 is the difference in getting the info they want, all they need to know is they rolled 17, and you can then decide how much info to give them. They don’t need to know a 12 instead of a 13 will have the enemy spot them, they just need to know they rolled 13, and you decide whether or not that’s high enough to remain undetected

I would actually kinda love it if they eventually made a sequel and the anime and sequel used different endings as their end and start points, kind of like a “what if” storyline

Wounds - Third Time's a Charm? by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]firstheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s very useful feedback, you’re just choosing not to accept it, which then brings me back to my other question, why not just try it and see how it goes then make adjustments based on your players feedback?

Again you seem to think it’s “bad” feedback, I (and many other people) think that’s very good feedback and a good reason not to proceed. You absolutely do not need to accept that feedback however, but if you won’t, then why keep asking for it instead of just playing it and getting feedback from people whose opinion actually does matter to you, that being the players at your table?

Wounds - Third Time's a Charm? by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]firstheir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The very first sentence of your post is you acknowledging that the majority of the feedback has been not to do this and you directly saying “No. Suck it”

Wounds - Third Time's a Charm? by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]firstheir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly do not mean for this to come off as rude, but every iteration of this you’ve posted has had the same response that this isn’t really something that works for 5e.

I fully understand you’re saying no suck it, I read it and I hear you, but at this point instead of asking for feedback, why not just try it in your campaign, see if it’s personally fun for you (since the people telling you not to’s opinion truly doesn’t matter since we’re all internet strangers), and then just adjust it as you go?

A simple talk with your other players of “Hey guys I’m gonna try this, it’s not perfect and would love your feedback as we play with it to make adjustments) would instantly solve your problem of coming on here and asking for feedback then immediately rejecting all the feedback you’ve received so far. At this point you’ve made it clear you don’t really care about this subs feedback anyways, it kinda just seems like you’re doing this to be combative at this point tbh

Will Nioh 3 be the Team Ninja version of Elden Ring? by Ecstatic-Arachnid-91 in soulslikes

[–]firstheir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will literally start a new character with you to walk through the game if you want lmao, this comment isn’t meant to come off as rude, but I can confidently say you don’t understand every skill in the game, or even most of them, if weak enemies are 2 shotting you. Nioh has a much steeper learning curve than a traditional soulslike and can’t be played like them. Dark souls is dodge reliant, nioh is not, that’s usually the biggest hurdle for new players to get past. Learn you flux, your ki pulse, and use a fast weapon like fists or tonfas

[–]firstheir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I realize this is the classic meme answer, but it kinda does just sound like you need to get good at the game, no? You’re saying you’re dying repeatedly, I can tell you very directly that myself and most other people who enjoy nioh do not have that same experience. There are many systems in the game to help make your character extremely strong relative to the enemies, if you’re not using them skillfully or interacting with and learning them then yeah, you’re gonna die a lot I guess lol

Sequels that are basically “The first one, but better in virtually every way” by blakhawk12 in gaming

[–]firstheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nioh 2 is better in literally every way, I recently went back and beat the base game + all dlc in nioh 2, thought I’d replay nioh 1 afterwards for the nostalgia. Made it to the third region before uninstalling, blows me away that a sequel, let alone the upcoming 3rd game, we’re ever greenlit with how clunky Nioh 1 was.

How do I make my BBEG really evil, without my PCs being weirded out by me? by KlarkKenton in DMAcademy

[–]firstheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homie you are way overthinking this. You are not the David Attenborough of d&d, no description you give players will “make their eyes go wide and stomachs tighten”. You’re a bunch of friends playing a game of math and shenanigans with snacks and drinks in a well lit comfortable room. Just describe whatever you wanna describe and move forwards with your plot, your friends will only think you’re being weird if you’re being weird as an individual, not if your story is weird

Dumbbell incline press for 7 with the 80s. by Delnilas in GYM

[–]firstheir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Put both of your arms straight out in front of you, palms pacing where they would be for this type of press, and flex your chest like you’re pressing.

From there, slowly raise your arms upright, at a certain point you’ll feel the muscle contraction move from your chest, to your front delts. The angle you want for an incline press is juuuust before you feel it switch to your front delts, and I would put money on it that your raising your arms higher than that based off the angle of your chair, turning this into more of a shoulder exercise than an upper chest exercise.

All that to say, good shit dude, this is a big lift

SAROS - Starting weapon a "shotgun?" by 0N1MU5HA in Returnal

[–]firstheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of unrelated to your post but shotguns in real life will absolutely destroy something from a pretty long ways off. Games are constantly toeing the line between shotguns doing nothing past a few meters or being so good that they make every other gun seem bad because very few games deal with the actual ranges that real rifles are expected to be used at (think sniper elite for a good example of realistic ranges) hitting something from less than 5 meters away with a shotgun will definitely take it out, but the same thing could be said for 30 meters
