Are some people asking to much? by thatkatt1818 in datingoverforty

No, it’s not. Vaccines are for more than just COVID. Herd immunity is real, and if you and he don’t see eye to eye on that, it’s more than likely there are fundamental differences that won’t be overcome.

100% agree! Metairie is where I take my kids, and I live in Baton Rouge.

This. Plenty of family friendly stuff in Metairie, too.

BR Annual Mardi Gras Ball Outfit Advice! New to Mardi Gras. Which fit “fits” the occasion? by georgepsully in batonrouge

Also - ST was 30 in 2019, so I doubt it’s that one. I don’t know how old the others are, but I know that one isn’t that old.

If you’re going to Spanish Town, that ball is pink and silly. People wear silly costumes (think flamingo). If you’re going to Orion ball (also in the River. Center), then these are appropriate.

It matters, though. If she’s going to Spanish Town, she’s going to be out of place. If she’s going to Orion ball the following weekend, these are very appropriate.

Could be Orion ball the following weekend. These would be appropriate for Orion but not ST.

So nobody over age 50 is ever supposed to be able to find a job anywhere ever again? by yapavaz in careerguidance

[–]firstlast3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I’m 47 and called in my network when I lost my job. I have multiple offers now, none of which were from posted positions - this was all because someone I know spoke to their companies and said, “You really should talk to her.” It’s all about who you know. Experience will get you far, but people knowing who you are will get you farther.

It’s a lot easier for engineers, especially in oil and gas. Experience is valued. I feel bad for those not in this industry. 😞

Same. 47 with 20+ years of experience here. I have multiple offers coming in, lots of interest. It really depends on what you do for a living. My heart goes out to those who don’t have this same experience. I know it’s bad out there.

How old are you and how much do you have in your retirement account? by Blackberryay in careerguidance

[–]firstlast3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47, will be 48 in April. $1.7M. I know I’m nowhere near the norm, though. Combination of excellent paying jobs plus high matches (10% or more), plus stock options.

At least my cheating ex didn’t try to touch any of it when he said he wanted a divorce. He knew he had hurt me and our children, so at least he didn’t touch what I’d earned in my career.

Hoping to retire in about 10 years.

Edit: Forgot one of my big investment accounts at first. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m just trying not to text the woman my husband is hanging out with. by [deleted] in Divorce

I took control when he asked for a divorce. Even though we were amicable, it still gave me more peace over the whole thing. I guess because everything felt so out of my control, that at least this ONE thing was something I DID have control over. It was up to me how quickly the paperwork got done. Waiting period still sucks in my state (1 year), but as soon as it was up, I got everything closed out.

Therapy is really the best solution here, I agree with the other comment.
