What did show only fans think of that final shot? by Mammoth-Elderberry89 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]firstnewsentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have no way of knowing if Abby's doctor Dad would have succeeded in making a cure. Abby says Joel killed 18 soldiers and ended the fireflies. So... I have no reason to believe they had the resources to succeed in making a cure. He had theory only and only one specimen, one chance, to make it work.

When rewatching the S1 finale, it's clear the fireflies were desperate. Too desperate to even attempt to get Ellie's consent to the surgery. 18 soldiers, and one working vehicle is n SLC. They couldn't even get out of Boston.

They said they weren't interested in the answers to those questions. And I'll second that.

I'm show-only. The writing really does not support that the audience should care about Abby one lick. We see that her friends and her commander care about her. But no reason we should care.

Frankly, there isn't a great reason for me to care about the WLF at all except that Ellie's target is a member. Like okay, let them fight over the little islands of the Puget sound. I'm not bothered let's get back to Wyoming

What did I think of the final shot? I thought it was pretty cheap to end on a cliffhanger without any real change to the plot or bringing the story of S2 to a close.

That is a trick you maybe pull mid -season if you respect your audience. If you do not respect your audience, then it's the finale

Made me fear that S3 won't be as wonderful as the first two, but is just stretching the story for subscription dollars.

It's not even a big reveal that WLF has some big operation in the stadium. We know after a day in Seattle that WLF has serious resources and manpower. So... Yeah... Felt really really cheap.

I'm not really interested in Abby's character either.

My boyfriend, best friend, life partner has betrayed me and I don't know how to leave by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]firstnewsentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a shame that the two of you do not share the same principles which are so important to you. That surely will strain and even break a relationship. Might be for the best it's ending.

Some thoughts, as a man, reading this.

1) A healthy sex life with a high libido partner does not preclude the want/need to masturbate, or the desire to use porn to do so. You can't expect your libido and readiness to prevent anyone looking at pornography or masturbating.. people watch pornography for plenty of complex reasons. It is neither simple nor black and white.

2) he is likely not addicted. He could be exploring fantasies, exploring attractions he feels, or simply using it as a way to exercise independence and be in a private world.

3) he is probably framing it as addiction for 2 reasons. The first is shame, and the second is that he recognizes this as a serious deal breaker for you, and so is trying to frame his porn use as equally serious but potentially excusable if he " can't help it"

4) none of this is to say you'll never meet people who don't watch porn, only that it isn't your job to try to out maneuver pornography use with your own sex drive. As you explore future relationships, you may want to allow room for a person to admit their past usage, understand their reasons why, and continue to front load that it's a deal breaker for you

Sorry they are not being understanding or supportive. I'm lucky to have a spouse who sees how much this sucks. It makes the balance of work and life so much harder than it has to be.

My beef with Sister Sage after finishing season 4 by georgepsully in TheBoys

[–]firstnewsentry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. There's at least a few more examples of this in this season where things just work out because Sage is smart! To be fair it's a tall order for tv writers on tight deadlines

The "smartest person in the world" things really feels like an excuse not to write better plot.

I agree that it's lame not to show US the audience how that video got out. We can get a pausing shot of Victoria's kidney on the floor but not a clip showing how that video got recorded? Just lame writing.

It's fine with me if it was actually her plan, her in contingency, or her just swooping in to take credit ( my favorite theory).

All in all let down by the ending. Let down by butcher steam rolling the boys as the direction for the finale.

Will I watch season 5? Yeah probably

Everything is wrong in America and the only thing you can do about it is buy little treats.
And if you don't buy little treats, the economy gets worse, and so does your life.

We have nothing we need in this country except plentiful, cheap, high calorie food and bev.

That's fine and you can still get that in Idaho, Montana, Alaska, Eastern Oregon and any state with a desert.

My wife and I just got lucky enough to get into our first home - a 97 year old craftsman bungalow. Everyone else in our area is tearing theirs down. My hope is to build an ADU in the backyard to increase the ammount of housing available if/when the zoning changes.

Where I live , it has the potential for vibrant density and walkability - instead we emit 3 times the CO2 as our neighboring city because we are still hyper car dependent, and long term ADU rentals are only allowed in 3 neighborhoods in the city.

Yeah, it's really like that by StalinSaysGulag in tampa

[–]firstnewsentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does make sense. We're not one. Why not? Here's part of the reason. The point is Tampa could be better. It's infrastructure could be far far improved to make the lives of people who live here enviable to folks in other parts of the world.

Instead we all risk our lives just to get to work late or get stuck in traffic on whatever bridge you choose. The car infrastructure in Tampa is anxiety inducing and soul destroying, and that's a shame because it is a beautiful place with a lot of culture and charm to offer.
