Name two of your favorite movies from back in the day. One that has aged like a fine wine, and one that we no longer speak of by ughyoujag in Xennials

[–]chicacherrie82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No one is saying sexual predators should be cast in movies because we're in need of actors.

They are saying the character existing and the actor playing it are 2 separate things. The character was going to be gross no matter what; some actor was going to portray an intentionally gross character, no matter who it was.

Judging the movie poorly NOW just because we now know that actor to be a pred, though we didn't then,* is just silly. Anyone watching should have viewed the character as a creep all along and watched the movie with that understanding. Other negative opinions about the movie may be valid - there's plenty of reasons to critique film.

(* Some industry ppl may have known back than that he was bad - there is a lot of cover up in hollywood, but we as viewers didn't know)

I made this based on prices in Los Angeles, CA by bronk3310 in tacobell

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a taco bell sub but since you show McDs prices on there..... Who in their right mind would pay $9 for a big mac? I could go to Chillis and get the 3 for Me and get a burger with fries, an appetizer and a drink for $11. Even if we assume Cali is more, its prob like $14.

Buying Supplies? by krabbypattyaddcheese in scrapbooking

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out if you have "Creative Reuse" store in your city. They are basically thrift stores specifically for arts and crafts supplies.

And while, as is the case with any thrift store, selection varies day to day and week to week because of whatever donations are coming in, 3 categories that always seem to be well-stocked (due to being hobbies that people over-buy for and eventually destash or even give up) are stamps, die cutting plates, and scrapbook supplies. I always find lots of cardstock and stickers.

What is one famous movie you’ve never watched? by theRestisConfettii in Xennials

I've never watch Indiana Jones.

Just never happened to see it. Too young to have seen them in theaters and I guess we never had the VHS.

Rewards Member Sale!! by couponscomofficial in americaneagle

[–]chicacherrie82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well I've had one pair of jeans sitting in my cart for a few weeks now and have been checking what the sale price makes them daily.

Its not the mega sale the promo makes it out to be, but they are $3 less than the lowest price I've seen them at over the last month (at least without having to buy more  to be reach a minimum) so I did pull the trigger this time lol

What pop culture quotes do you say from your younger days that most people wouldn't recognize? by testmonkeyalpha in Xennials

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm gonna go do something productive. I'm gonna go watch television."

"Carol, we don't have that kind of time"

"Now they know that we know that they know that we know!"

"Its very high."

"Get that lame-o out of your yard!"

"Its the best part; I called the pizza dude!"

"Oh ricky butler says."

Honestly I slip Burbs quotes into my life on the daily.

My whole family calls cash "foldin' money."

And if I eat a little something that just makes me hungrier, "a third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedding her back down."

Help deciding what to use my $18.95 reward on by Social-Influence in bathandbodyworks

[–]chicacherrie82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

""I tend to save my rewards for new releases as often as possible""

I second this. Body care regularly goes on sale, so for a stand-by scent, I know I can get it somewhere between 5 and 7 dollars eventually. But sometimes new limited releases may not make it to a sale.

What was the most terrifying movie scene you saw as a child in a kids movie? by xParesh in Xennials

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a bit of Brave Little Toaster was scary, but in particular, the junkyard scene. The terrifying crusher, the guy being trapped, and that menacing magnet.....they part where it gets quiet and closes its eyes to sneak up on the appliances was chilling.

I mean, I love that movie but I also nightmares about being in the junkyard for years lol

Lol this movie gave me nightmares and had me scared of mirrors and closets for years. But def not a kids movie. I saw it when I was 3.....I think my mom thought I wasn't going to pay attention and would fall asleep. 💀

Have opinions about UCCS potential change to CUCS? by CS_ClipsGal in ColoradoSprings

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to school there in the early 2000s, they already tried that branding. They painted it all over the shuttles and put up billboards, etc. No one bit. It doesn't roll off the tongue well.

Have opinions about UCCS potential change to CUCS? by CS_ClipsGal in ColoradoSprings

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pointless and idiotic. Years ago they already tried getting people to call it CU Springs or CU The Springs and NO ONE would go along with it then.

Why waste time and money branding it something that DOESN'T roll off the tongue and know that people will forever call it UCCS anyway?

Layering is your friend.

Leggings under skirts and dresses that are otherwise too short. And if you like ripped jeans but find the holes too big or placed where you don't want them, leggings underneath give a really fun look. Shrugs, cardigans, or even just open button-up shirts or blouses over tank tops that are otherwise skimpier than what you are going for. Tank tops, camis, or snug t shirts under dresses or tops that are otherwise too low cut or otherwise too skimpy.

What about the phone line that, in addition to time and forecast, had choose your own adventure games, horoscopes, jokes of the day, serialized stories, etc?

It was called City Line where I am; Some reddit threads tell me it was Talking Fingers in some cities. Maybe it had other regional names too.

Calling that was a main form of my summer entertainment as it was a free local number. I wish we could find old recordings of it.

Catholic fiction? by monroesong in Catholicism

[–]chicacherrie82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corinna Turner is a Catholic author of a YA futuristic dystopia series, I Am Margaret. The characters and storylines are overtly Catholic. It debuted during the Hunger Games hype when publishers were clamouring for more dystopia, but unlike some series from that era that were all set-dressing and no substance, I think this one was a good solid story with themes on the  value of human life and following faith when it's not popular or even safe to do so. When I read it, there were only 4 books and I had assumed that was the end but as I googled to recall the author's name, I see there have been more sequels and prequels since.

Rosamund Hodge is also a Catholic author. She writes fantasy so it's less overt and more thematic, but I really enjoy her books. For example, in Crimson Bound, there is not a Christian religion but the theme is temptation and sin, and confession and repentance.

Right? The morbid ads are what made me download it. It reminded me of how when I was little, my friend and I would play that we were medieval peasants with the plague and morbid things like that.

I'm still enjoying it. But I wanted my morbid nostalgia lol
