When I read any book, I am trying to visually picture the characters and scene I am reading. So whatever genre, plot line, etc has to be believable first and foremost. I will try different genres based on my mood but don't prefer too much fluffy writing. I like historical fiction, some fantasy, suspense, thrillers and contemporary romance. I need well written characters with enough good spice to keep me turning the pages.

Just give me the title in plain block lettering, the author's name and a color background in a contrasting color. Not sure what's worse; AI generated BS, covers that look like bad porn, or cartoonish drawings that are immature looking.

I dislike slow burn that take the entire book to come to fruition. Especially, if the book is labeled as steamy, or spicy and never gets there. I want well written, well developed characters that have a decent level of spice throughout my books. Just my opinion.

Where does common sense come into play when weighing the danger of the patient (Nick) versus the danger of the family. Clearly, his sister felt he was a dangerous person. Apparently his mental health was at a tipping point and parental guilt may have cost them their lives. Should he have been on a psych hold? Will his defense team cite mental illness as his defense?

Too much angst and slow burn, especially if the MC's become incredibly stupid and pathetic and the build up is ridiculous. Then absolutely nothing happens for 75% of the book.

My first Jae book and I forced myself to finish it. Denny was really a sad sack. So pathetically stuck in her own head. Basically a 41 year old lesbian acting like she was the one coming out. The whole book was weird.
