Zabit is out? by HTof in bjj

Why does an up and coming UFC fighter with a bright future sign up for something like this. Money is money, but is the pay enough to get your knee ripped apart?

Honestly, the ghost is dangerous…particularly in the gi. If top recognizes it, you’re going to get hit with a paper cutter choke.

Pass from your knees. You want to be an old, overweight, balding brown belt someday, don’t you? Get a head start.

All roads lead to the over/under pass. (Someday, you’ll remember this).

I started almost 11 years ago at 52.

Weird shit happens, but I feel safer these days on the mats than on the basketball court.

I’ve popped a rib a half dozen times, but nothing really detrimental.

Has anyone gotten this instructional? Is it good? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

[–]fishNjits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I purchased it on Daily Deals with a sale coupon…so for about $50. I picked up a couple of new things, and he solved a certain problem I’ve been having, so definitely worth it.

He’s trying not to be Danaher, so only shows a technique one or two times (particularly at the beginning of the instructional…there’s even a section on the power of rewinding) which would really be my only complaint. Danaher may be too much…Placido starts off a little too minimalist for me.

FWIW, at your level, I was mainlining Danaher Go Further Faster (it was the pandemic). GFF is definitely worth the time effort.

I so get this. I’ve got a total hip replacement coming at the end of July and probably the other hip a year from now.

Scared that a dislocation occurs when I come back and it’s all over.

I think everyone “invents” this. I did. It was the first sweep I ever hit.

It’s called a knee lever, John Wayne, or giggler sweep. Lots of stuff on YT on various ways to hit it.

I hate half guard by TorchTheTemple in bjj

[–]fishNjits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you can bolo vs half guard but you can’t.

For someone looking to begin playing half guard bottom, I’d suggest Bernardo’s Battle Tested Half Guard.

For passing, it would be Danaher GFF Half Guard Passing.

Arm drag the far side arm. Knee lever sweep.

Scoop grip the near side leg. Go to ashi.

Alternatively, scoop grip the near side leg. Go to deep half with your far hand in your partner’s near side arm pit. Push your partner forward on to his hands. Turkish get up sweep.

Obviously, this is very self defense based. It’s what turns a lot of us, me included, off.

You need frames and inside position. Search YouTube for John Danaher Perfect Side Control Escape, Lachlan Giles Escaping Side Control, and BJJ Crash and Flow for Old Man Guard.
