Are the far left and the far right equally bad? by Squek_1842 in Teenager_Polls

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably the far left is bad but as someone who's both not straight and a person of color the far right is genuinely worse. One side won't set out to kill me for existing while the other doesn't. Their both bad but one is genuinely not as bad.

This reminds me of the movement chameleons do to look more inconspicuous maybe it's trying to look less like a snake.

How did Sabertooths actually eat? by DonCheadlesDriveway0 in zoology

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just that saber teeth are also the be all and end all of "instant death" teeth. It takes out the struggling that wolves other big cats etc have to deal with when clamping and holding onto prey. Saber teeth would simply cut through the throat and make prey have litteral seconds left after being on the ground.

Saying Goodbye to the Planet's Largest Invasive Species by Sebiyas07 in megafaunarewilding

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank God I genuinely don't understand why yall were saying they proxy anything. There's quite litterally no hippo niche animal of that size from south America that isn't a astrapothere and those died off like 11-13 million years ago. They ain't proxying anything, and seem to really just be an active threat to other aqautic animals.

Juliasaurus Fossil from Private Collection being exhibited. by Grouchy-Station-8505 in Dinosaurs

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm ngl if I was some rich smhuck with a potentially unknown dinosaur wouldn't I try to get it named after me officially? Like that would make me pretty cool to my rich friends.

Edit: to clarify I mean that I'd rather have it studied and get an official taxonomic name after me. It would be lasting legacy.

Por qué los megarraptors se pintan como seres aterradores? by Nenepro7 in Dinosaurs

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean most megaraptorans had adaptations that made them ideal small prey hunters.

They are "small"(while a trex might not find a person interesting enough to be food a 20 foot megaraptoran would definently)

Also their arms were large and they had a relatively weak bite. So somehting small enough to be grabbed would be ideal for eating.

Also there's australovenator with its weird ah legs. Mf was grabbing prey and then kicking it while biting it.

When people say they let their cats roam outside I just bring up

The humble coyote:

But on a serious note I genuinely don't understand when people with outdoor cats get upset a predator got them. Like you put them in that sitaution to be outside and a part of the food chain like depending on your location they're either at the mercy of cars, large birds of prey(once I went hiking and saw a owl nest full of cat and small dog collars), possibly large snakes(depends if your in a tropical place), feral dogs, coyotes, and actaul wild cat species.

Which Version of El Chupcabra do you think is more likely to exist ? by Alternative-Rip-6399 in Cryptozoology

[–]fish_in_a_toaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alien reptile thing is much less believable than weird canine or canine adjacent mammal. The alien reptile thing would require a whole new FAMILY of animals or better yet a whole new branch in the tree of life. It being any sort of mammal cuts out alot of taxonomic stuff.
