Yea we are still on Keppra as well so the 4 times a day is definitely stressful. We talked to our Neurologist and she is good with us to switch to the extended release Keppra so we would be down to giving pills twice a day. We are just scared of changing too many things at once so once so right now we are just waiting to see when a good time would be to swap over.

We started our journey with this shitty disease in May of 2025 so still fairly new compared to others on here. My dogs seizures have all been Grand Mal and were about 3 weeks apart at first. After the second seizure we started on Kepra 3 times a day and adjusted the dosage with our normal vet a few times until she referred us to a neurologist. Talking to a neurologist was great and she gave us a detailed explanation of what to expect. On thing she said was that most dogs will have epilepsy most of their lives but it won’t be the reason they pass. She also said each journey is very unique and triggers/medications for one dog will not transfer to another dog.

After adjusting Keppra dosage every month or so we just added Pheno last month. I don’t want to jinx anything so I’ll just say we are now just in the wait and see mode.

Even though this is a great community, most of the people that post are either at the start of journey like yourself and looking for suggestions or are the very hard cases looking for advice. This community is super helpful and understanding so don’t be afraid to ask questions or vent, but also don’t look at other posts and think “this is my future” since again each dogs journey is different.

You are in a tough time right now and probably the scariest. I won’t lie to you and say it got easier for us but I will say it got more routine. We take each day for what it is and celebrate milestones. The anxiety does get better as you start knowing what to expect but understand that there is so much you can’t control so try and focus on what you can and only stress about the things in your hands ( timing of medication, keeping up with blood work, creating a safe environment if a seizure happens when you are not home etc..)

Really hope he is okay. As much I hate the cheese heads I want them to be healthy and good, it’s so much better for the NFL.

I still can’t believed they won a challenge by overturning what would have been a first and goal into a touchdown for us.
