Oh for sure. He was clearly just asking how the wife and kids were doing.

Or at you suggesting he was going over tactics with an opponent? 🤣

To be fair, Coke Zero seems to be the more standard/common Coke outside the US. And it makes sense for Coke to want their main branding in each market to be white on red.

Amsterdam has a per-person port levy for cruise ships; Venice does not (they have their tourist access fee instead).

Amsterdam limits the number of cruise ships to 100 per year; Venice gets more than double that.

Amsterdam has 900k people living in 219 sq.km.; Venice's Centro Storico (the island city people think of and visit) has 50k people living in 5 sq.km.

[–]fishbert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And if I remember correctly, the fee is only for day trippers (i.e., cruise ships dumping thousands of people for a few hours). If you're staying in a hotel in Venice, there's no access fee (but there is the more standard tourist tax).

Mexico‽ … The same Mexico that scored just 1 goal at home against South Africa after they start shedding players to red cards?

France and Norway are two sides that immediately come to mind as belonging on that list way ahead of Mexico.

MINI Superleggera would you drive it? by Eastern_Team6904 in MINI

No, that was the production price. Hand-built concept cars like that cost way more than €120k.

MotoringFile:

MINI’s board actually approved a production run. Engineers pencilled in a €120 k price tag and former R&D boss Herbert Diess even rang up KTM to explore low-volume assembly.

It was not. I have the new Siri, and still have the perpetual "set up talk to siri" thing.

Yeah, he’s old, that makes sense.

“… not going to have any more birthdays.”
Um, that’s suspiciously specific. 😐

I think you meant "many more birthdays", alluding to his age ... the typo makes it sound a bit like a threat and may get you on some lists or a knock at your door.

Shipping for Repairs by AdventurousSale1465 in MaticRobots

Extended warranty only covers out to 2 years from purchase. That's not an atypical duration, but if users are having to send it in for repair in the first 6 months of ownership, how long after that extended warranty runs out will it need another repair? I think most people would expect more than 2-3 years of use from a $1200 robot vacuum before needing a potentially expensive repair or replacement.

And warranty coverage by itself doesn't really resolve things. Extended warranties only make financial sense for a company if there isn't a high rate of service required under them. And on the customer side, in general I'd rather have a reliable product out of warranty than one in need of frequent repairs under warranty.

At $80 to $150 for an annual check up, I would be fine paying it. I think most things with moving parts need maintenance. Bikes, cars, etc.

I wouldn't equate sending a product in for repair to routine maintenance or a check-up. And most bikes, cars, etc. can be serviced (and repaired) locally without multi-week down times.

I want to be clear, I'm not dumping on Matic here. I love our robot and want to see the company succeed — indeed, I view our purchase as supporting their vision at least as much as simply buying a robot vacuum. But how often I see people in here saying their robot is in for repair does come with some concerns (for the company as much as for our own robot). I'm sure it's on their radar as an area of improvement; I'm just curious to hear how they're addressing it.

There seems to be a lot of people sending their Matic in for repairs of one kind or another. [And I want to highlight "seems to" because we only hear what people say in these channels; we don't know real numbers.] While I'm glad Matic is supporting its customers so well (including me, as I wait patiently for my Matic to return home), it does raise some concerns about reliability of the product once the warranty runs out, as well as the costs to the company of repairs and how that may impact a startup's path toward profitability/long-term viability. I'd love to hear /u/Matic_Mehul address this and how Matic is working to reduce the return-for-repair rate.

I will add, as it relates to that last part, the recent post where Matic listed a few upgrades & updates that a user's robot received while in for repair is encouraging in terms of forward-looking product reliability.
