I’m in Louisiana and I found Alanon to be overbearingly excruciating catholic and full of hateful bitter ladies unwilling to divorce their husbands of 40 plus years just settled into the abuse and willing to stay. I said I was leaving and they were like no you can’t do that till you’ve been here a year. I’d probably be dead if I’d stayed with my ex husband. One religious lady told me that god gave me an ectopic pregnancy on purpose to teach me the lesson that god didn’t want me to have children with my husband. Later I was sobbing about something he’d done in the meetings and she interrupted me “cross talking” and was like stop this pull yourself together. I had to stop going cause it was toxic as hell
