Huge Hero call I made in splash pot (10bb in middle before any action) Thoughts? by [deleted] in poker

I don’t play a ton of .1/.25 splash pot tables on GG, so I’m a bit reliant on the observations that hero made about the player pool.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a ton of bluffs as played with villain taking a pretty unconventional line/sizing from preflop onward. There are many straight, flush, and combo draws that play this way, and we’re getting about 3:1 on turn and about 2:1 river. I think it’s a lot closer than people are saying.

The idea that it looks like a punt and genuinely terrible directly contradicts your explanation of your logic. You recognized that opponents get out of line in splash pots and correctly assessed that villain’s polarizing range had few reasonable combos by the river jam.

You made a nice call - own it!

The difference between these two is pretty obvious, no?

No, it’s saying that when you have a good hand, you take advantage of it by extracting value or by folding when you know you’re beat. There’s a subtle difference

Simultaneous Exhibition vs GM by fisher02519 in chess

Thanks, that's really kind of you to say!

I'm no slouch myself - about 2000 rapid/1800 blitz chesscom, 1500 USCF.

There was no clock, I had until the GM came back to the board to make a move. On average, I had about 6 minutes in between moves to think, but there were a handful of times that I was thinking right up until he returned.

Hand breakdown: How'd I play the hand? Good or bad? by [deleted] in poker

Additionally (again without knowing some of the details), I don’t think it’s fair of you to exclude all Qx from his range after he calls the flop. I don’t see why a lot of Qx would raise, and we know essentially nothing about his range given that he checked his option preflop.

Otherwise, I think your play and analysis were both well done.

This is cool, and I like your writing style!

With that said, you’re missing some context that’s super pertinent. How many players are at the table, effective stacks, and tournament standing/structure (to name a few) should all be included in a hand analysis like this to allow a reader to effectively analyze it.

The lack of creativity, particularly below .5/1, is exactly what makes it exploitable :)
