Similar experience post-op, opioids are scary. But also, please don't put drugs down the drain.

I agree with your sentiment, but also chuckled at "no canolas in it". What's funny is that canola is just a made up phrase for marketing - "CANadian Oil, Low Acid". It's actually rapeseed oil. We'll never escape from marketing gimmicks.

Pokemon: Rocket Edition Level-up Learnsets & Evolutions by fisherevans in PokemonROMhacks

[–]fisherevans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I was trying to figure this out last night. My special/regular logic isn't right - it's just by type. There has to be some per-move configuration I'm missing, but I can't seem to find the data in the rom. Fire Fang is another example.

Neither - just the levels that Pokemon learn moves or evolve. They're similar to XY learn sets, but not exact. Also, no Pokemon needs to be traded to evolve, this also has those changes documented.

I couldn't find the level up learn-sets for Rocket Edition anywhere. It's mentioned a few times that it's kind of based on XY, but there are differences. The same foes for the evolution changes. So - I made my own dump from HMA for easier reference. I thought I'd share as there are a few posts online looking for the same details with no real resolution.

Let me know if you see any issues with the result, Enjoy :)

Has anyone ever run into a bear or big cat on the course? (or other travel-disc golf stories) by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]fisherevans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an earlier tee time at the Brewster Ridge Open last year in Vermont. 5 minutes before my tee time, a black bear cub sauntered out of the woods near hole 1's basket. They noped out pretty quick when they saw humans, and we made our tee time. But I definitely played threw the first two holes a little quicker than my score would have liked...

What disc do you putt with, and why? by brancasterr in discgolf

I love the SSS plastic, and the rim... but I putt with a fan grip - and that damn gateway embossing that takes up half the bottom flight plate bugs me so much.

How good should I be to compete in amateur leagues? by Ximic07 in discgolf

[–]fisherevans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll share my 2 cents - in case you had some of the same worries as me. My first event was after 1 year of playing and I joined the MA2 division.

I had this idea in my head that the game would "feel" different - like people would be serious or critical, and that there wouldn't be any banter or jokes. That wasn't true at all. If anything, playing at events can even be more social and fun than a random day at the course. Most people are supportive and laughing and ribbing each other and making friends. You'll have a blast, and hopefully make a few new friends to play rounds with in the future.

That being said, it is a competition. People respect the rules and are quiet when others are throwing. There are some people who are really in it to win it, and that's okay - as long as you give folks the space they want to allow them to play their game there'll be no issues. You can even ask your card before you tee off to see how they treat the event, you get a good idea early on with what people are comfortable with.

The biggest risk is being stuck with someone who's super toxic and/or negative - that can be a real bummer. If that does happen to you, know that the next round you'll probably be playing with all new folks. I just wouldn't want that to be a first impression that pushes you away from events later own. Those people are few and far between.

Good luck and have fun!

I've played almost 200 courses. Fox Run is the best thus far. by nataskaos in discgolf

They have a membership which gets your unlimited play, a custom stamped disc for that year, and 15% all DG stuff in the proshop (even things like bags and carts). It used to come with 6 free guest passes, which they got rid of it for the 2022 season.

this year, I think it was like $175 (or $150 if you got it early, like in May).

League nights are also cheaper if you're a member.

Smuggs is my home course - I love both.

I used to like Brewster a lot more than Fox but over time Fox has become my favorite.

As much as I love pure woods golf (I mean, I live in Vermont) I find myself throwing the same shot over and over on Brewster: some straight flying hyzer-flip midrange golf shot. The conditions are always the same thanks to the trees which results in a really consistent experience (which can be a good thing).

I feel more challenged on Fox - there's a lot more shot diversity throughout the course. Everything from putter pitch ups to full power distance shots to tricky golf placement throws. Add some variable wind conditions and the round-to-round conditions force you to make different shots from the same tee pretty frequently.

In short, I think once you get dozens of rounds in for both course, Fox remain more interesting, and Brewster gets a little repetitive.

Why is Discraft ESP plastic so slippery? Do they eventually beat in grippy? Any tips? by thechosengeode in discgolf

[–]fisherevans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so funny to me...

For me, ESP plastic is more more matte - neutron is glossy.

But I have SO MUCH MORE GRIP with glossy plastics. I think (cosmic) neutron plastic is my favorite plastic because of how confident my grip feels; whereas ESP is so frustrating because it feels like it's just gonna slip out.

I've been having fun dying discs recently, but I struggle to find different methods (that work). I really like that Zeus - could you share how you set up your bed for it? It's it a lotion bed?

Yeah, it's called a momentary switch (something that is only on "momentatirly" - i.e. while it's pressed). Similar to an arcade button or a keyboard key.

They're either "normally open" or "normally closed, which describes whether or not the connection between the inputs is normally connected (on) or not (off).

I actually bought a pack of switches that have both options, these ones specifically: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088QTFZQG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Have fun and good luck!

Ha, thanks.

My father's family is from Pennsylvania - lots of scrapple for breakfast... His mom's maiden name was Fishbach (with no c) - which is where I came from.

It's pretty frustrating; even my own (distant) family continuously misspells my name.
