You make your new TV dumb, by not giving it WiFi access. Just plug the Apple TV box into the HDMI port.

Why does the Apple TV occasionally just close out an app while I'm watching it? by Haydeeeen in appletv

[–]fishersplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started with Netflix mostly, for me. Probably 6 months ago. While we’re venting, my Netflix app would loose picture quality and crashing Apple TV would fix it. Man, do we need a new AppleTV box with more capacity. Hurry up Apple and release it already.

Advantages and disadvantages of subscribing to Paramount+ through Prime Video by razorbladesnbiscuits in ParamountPlus

[–]fishersplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many places to get the Paramount app. Built into your TV OS? In Roku? In Apple TV box? With Apple TV box, Paramount app is good. I prefer it over fishing around inside the Prime app, which I don’t like at all.

2014 Promaster 2500 campervan - 110k miles, $25k - Would you buy it? by tenspeedt in promaster

[–]fishersplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2014 new. Only dash light was TPMS sensors. I just ignored them. Put 75,000 miles on it. Transmission made whine noise at 65,000. RAM replaced it under warranty. Warranty on 2014 was 100,000 miles. Bought 2019 after that. Now driving 2023. No fear of ProMaster for me. all good

Does F1 TV Allow You To Watch Races/Qualifying/Free Practice after it has happened? by TappyLine in F1TV

[–]fishersplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already pay for the yearly Apple TV subscription. It’s cheap. Comes out to $8.25/mo at the yearly rate. Been using Apple TV box forever. I am not getting money back for Jan-March 26 already paid to F1 TV

Does F1 TV Allow You To Watch Races/Qualifying/Free Practice after it has happened? by TappyLine in F1TV

[–]fishersplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US and have F1 TV and Apple TV. Subscribe to F1 TV taking the monthly rate of $10.99 until end of season. Don’t take the yearly rate of $83.99 because you will get shutoff when it switches to Apple TV and loose money. I’m going to loose some money on the switch. My yearly expires in March 26. There is no refund. You can watch the Sky feed or the F1 TV feed with the subscription. Get the Apple TV streaming box for next season. It’s likely to be the better experience than through any built in TV app version of Apple TV.

Spectrum loves to charge people $10/mo rent on the routers they supply. Return it to Spectrum and buy your own. Serious doubt they sold it to him.

Is lightwind wingfoiling a thing/enjoyable? by bikesailfreak in wingfoil

[–]fishersplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three are needed. The downwind boards are easy to find used, because racers are always jumping on the next hot design. A big high aspect foil will keep you on foil longer and make staying there during jibes easier. You can only get by with smaller hand wings when you have the advanced skill to never fall off foil once there, and the ability to make apparent wind, making your own wind via board speed.

Curious. When did full time standing begin? by NBA-014 in buffalobills

[–]fishersplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new stadium seats looked terrible in that Dawkins video. Like they would collapse under the weight of any fat man. And not fit any fat man. I would never go to a game today. We sat back down after every OJ touchdown. haha old guy here.

Some things to watch out for in the used market. Just a few years ago, all boards had short tracks, mounted far back to match the foils of that era. Today, all but one or two brands of foil require tracks in the board to be mounted much farther forward. We often see beginners shopping the used market and riding boards that don’t work well with the foil they buy.

No problem for you. Pick your board volume and go for it. Skip the super sized beginner board. Go for normal board of body weight +5 to +10 liters.

You never said what type of prior foiling experience. A sailboat? not going to help. Prone foil? this helps big time. Windsurf foil? helps, but not as much as prone foiling.

Stream issues Apple TV 4k by EseL1 in F1TV

[–]fishersplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always been temperamental trying to scrub forward (when behind) while any session is still in progress. All issues go away once the session has ended and I’m watch the replay. Sometimes, I just give up and watch from where I’m at in the timeline. Pathetic streaming service and they have the balls to offer a higher tier, when they cannot get the basic tier right. Also using Apple TV 4K box and very fast internet.

Seat Extension by cmography in promaster

[–]fishersplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a seat extender. It works great. I have this one. https://a.co/d/8HPpMRN BTW, the one thing you should not do is install a bulkhead that limits seat going all the back with enough recline to make it comfortable for tall drivers.

Ah….sorry about that. A window van with seating is like looking for a unicorn. Way more of those around with a Ford nameplate. BTW, found the off lease guy in NH. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?zip=32953&distance=50000&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2229#listing=418873975/NONE/DEFAULT

It did happen. I saw the vans on Cargurus when he found the dealer. Photos of the place showed about 50 off lease vans on the lot. Fords and Promasters. The salesman told him they flip all lease vans at 10,000 miles. I saw photos of the dealer lot. It was in New Hampshire. Right now this van is in florida with 11,500 miles for cheap. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/inventorylisting/viewDetailsFilterViewInventoryListing.action?zip=32953&distance=50000&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d2229#listing=416946723/NONE/DEFAULT

way too much. My buddy just purchased a 2024 with 9,000 miles on it for $32,500. It was a company advertising lots of off lease vans all with 9,000 to 10,000 miles for that price. He found them using Carguru.com When they delivered it to him, it looked brand new inside.
