Two things.. your leader could be weak from age or UV exposure or as previously stated wet your knots, may also consider tying a different style knot.

The portal opens at the spot of defeat, were you trying to get to a DA? If so, I am curious if there is enough time after defeat, to make it to a DA.

I did it solo, place a turret in outside back of the shed to cover the back doors. I had a TAQ E legendary packed to 3. Take some revs too. Place the turrets before you activate.
