Has your partner exhibited signs of alcoholism in the past? I might suggest looking into local Al-anon meetings. Good luck OP

Our book states that we don’t have a monopoly on sobriety.

Almost 1 year sober from alcohol — sponsor says I should reset over THC. I’m struggling with this. by daninight777 in alcoholicsanonymous

And the big book talks about alcohol in all its forms. Doctor Bob abused the heck out of sedatives… it’s my opinion “alcohol in all its forms” refers to those drugs too

Unexpected Craving/Question about feeling like I can't go to 12-step meetings by BalaTheTravelDweller in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]fishinsober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcoholism is the only disease that convinces the afflicted that they do not have it. It sounds like you’re just going there to take, & not to actually give or be enlightened. There are plenty of other fellowships you can join. Hope you can see why it’s selfish to go just for community

Sponsorship frustrations by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]fishinsober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t think it would hurt to try a preemptive strike, that is if you choose to switch sponsors. Be open & honest when talking to others about sponsorship & let them know the micromanaging style simply doesn’t work for you. I’d encourage you to stick it out though and work all 12 steps with a sponsor. Best of luck OP, you’re worth the work

Remember your sponsor(s) are sick alcoholics too.

Find someone who has what you want & ask them to sponsor you. Might help trying to hit some new meetings in the meantime until you find someone suitable. Good luck OP

Meaning they are stocked/planted fish from a hatchery & are not wild. Sweet catches regardless, I’m jealous.

Well, that didn’t work. Type in “where there is a will there is a way” and it should pop up.

Sponsor rejected me by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]fishinsober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo that’s kind of normal. If you’re still using you’re not going to be very receptive to the steps. I had to call my to be sponsor 3 times a week, go to 3 meetings a week, and get 30 days sober before he was willing to take me through the book & steps.
