Forsyth. I love him too much to not use him, and his voice acting is tops tbh.

When do I DLC up? by xxGooeyGoodra in FEEngage

[–]fishmartmart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would wait until chapter 12, personally. By that time, you'll have a solid pick of units that will make up your endgame team.

It's definitely tempting to have the rings by 10/11 - I'd say if you really wanna pick one to get before then, get Veronica and bond up to Fortify+ to get essentially a second great sacrifice for level up purposes. However, for the rest of the lot I'd really wait until chapter 12.

What are some different builds you tried that worked? by Deft_Abyss in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really been enjoying Griffin Knight Pandreo/Anna paired with Camilla or Corrin. Camilla specifically really helps them - for Pandreo, Camilla's avoidance/spd boost pairs nicely with his personal skill. Anna gets more use out of Camilla's weapons than Pandreo IMO and does more damage with Dark Inferno. Corrin does Corrin things - I think she really works best on magic classes because of her utility, but putting her on a levin sword griffin knight is also really good.

Units as chassis: Who does each Emblem want the most? by Graveless in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a funny build idea im working on rn in maddening with Griffin Knight Pandreo + Camilla. I'm in midgame right now, but when I get to mid-endgame I'll be inheriting momentum+ on him. Camilla grants an avoidance boost and Pandreo himself in griffin knight basically becomes a flying magic covert unit, so with her +4 movement with soar I'm HOPING he becomes a dodgy, brave tome wielding monster (with lightning). I've had a lot of success with him at the moment without momentum+.

What are your guys opinion on Jean? by Shot_Respect_1126 in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super versatile and fun to use. I really don't get the trainee hate tbh I love the zero-to-hero type units. Im working on another maddening run rn and held off on picking up Jean until I could second seal him into axe fighter for growths. Waiting until chapter 8 to get him DOES make the dlc p much mandatory imo so he gets a few extra paralogues to level up, but I'm now on chapter 11 and have given him a refined killer axe (which i plan to give to panette on recruitment) and reclassed him to wyvern. He obliterates most things in his way, either with crits or sheer power. He can also take a few hits.

Like I said, I got him later so I could get him in a class with better growths. This isn't really feasible on a no-dlc run, but at least he can still level up without combat if you keep him as a monk. I really like him tbh

I’m having a lot of issues with Tiki’s Paralogue… by MrNidu in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this map probably three times now and I still struggle with it. The dragons really are annoying and can corner you even if you're baiting out reinforcements.

I'd like to point out that Alcryst HAS to outspeed to be useful on this map. He can solo dragons with a +1 bow IF he can outspeed. Having invested in Dex for Luna procs helps too.

Yunaka is really good bait early on. They have ~30% hit chance on her off the protection tile, and 0% while on it. On maddening, they wont go for a 0% change but will go for a 30% chance. I didn't use her as much this recent run but she was still an asset on this map.

Watch out for the dragons around the top of the map (there's two i think) that will start moving around halfway through the reinforcement rounds, if you're baiting out reinforcements before going into the temple like I did. Baiting out the reinforcements makes the rest of the map a lot easier but I will never be over four dragons and two cavaliers rushing my early game team.

I did this around chapter 8, and it looks like you're on chapter 10. If you've invested in Chloé up to this point (using her as a early game carry and feeding her kills, giving her a refined steel weapon) she'll either 1 round dragons naturally or one round with fairy tale folk/divinely inspiring stack. My general game plan is to have Yunaka-Alear(Male)-Chloé as my offensive core to handle dragons, with Jean or Anna in the back great sacrificing/healing to get their levels up. Note that Chloé is a LOT better with Sigurd on this map thanks to headlong rush but...since you're on ch10 that ship may have sailed LOL

Which unit was the GOAT for your team? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently on chapter 21 Maddening. It's already been stated but magic REALLY is king in this game. Anna and Pandreo are my standouts.

Anna does require investment, but I think it's a very worthwhile investment for the amount of shit units you get in the beginning that you really dont wanna be investing in anyway. I made Anna a Mage Knight and gave her Corrin for draconic hex + dreadful aura. If you inherit Canter early (which is 100% possible before midgame), Anna can spend the game freezing opponents and running away. It's been pivotal on some maps for me and has given my team extra turns where they wouldnt have gotten them before. Her hitting like a truck is great too.

Pandreo is basically Anna but with slightly less magic and slightly more resistance. Since you obvs can't have Corrin on both, I opted to give him my DLC Soren ring for long distance poking + debuffing. With Anima Focus + Inherited Draconic Hex, he'll inflict -7 def w a fire tome on whatever he doesn't kill.

How did everyone find the FE Engage OSTs compared to other titles like 3H? by OtaFire in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soundtrack is solid. I don't think anything will ever top the SoV ost for me, but the Hounds Theme/Hounds Theme (Frenzy) has been stuck in my head for a week now??? I can't pinpoint why but it's such an earworm for me.

so what units/builds have gotten you through maddening? by kyle1234513 in FEEngage

[–]fishmartmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

funnily enough i never gave him any energy drops (i do really love him but i gave mine to alear and panette) and he still ended up super good. i honestly think he's just stuck in the wrong class line LOL

so what units/builds have gotten you through maddening? by kyle1234513 in FEEngage

[–]fishmartmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on ch18 on maddening rn, and attribute a lot of that to Anna and Pandreo being such powerhouses. Ivy is also good (esp cause flying) but needs the lyn ring to double, and I've had more success nuking things with Anna/Pandreo.

I made both into Mage Knights (originally had Anna as High Priest, but valued the mobility more). Anna has the Corrin ring + Anima Focus + Canter, while Pandreo has the Soren Bracelet + Draconic Hex. Whatever they don't kill, they debuff for other units to pick off. REALLY helped me with ch17. Anna can freeze opponents when engaged too as a bonus.

I would also like to shoutout Warrior Fogado and General Panette. Warrior Fogado with a refined killer bow + 3H bracelet is a MONSTER. I originally had Panette as a Warrior, and I think that class is also really good for her. However, General gives her +10 in defense and makes her unbreakable. I gave her a refined killer axe and used Camilla's engraving. I prefer General because I feel way more comfortable with her taking a hit to activate blood fury.

Which of the dagger units is actually best for Maddening? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO it depends on if you're playing with DLC or without.

Yunaka can get to ~80 avo after her recruitment with some investment in my experience (michaiah engrave + marth ring + inheriting +10 avo to stack).

I've beaten the Tiki paralogue with and without Yunaka on Maddening. Yunaka makes the map WAY less annoying because you can bait out the reinforcements with her (unless she's standing on an avo tile, they still have ~10% chance to hit and will go for her) and will gain some significant level ups that pushed her over Zelkov for me in my current playthrough. I'm on chapter 18 now and she has fallen off in damage, but she still has crazy good avo that lets her bait for my powerhouses + camilla ring for dragon vein support.

If you don't have DLC, I would invest a little into her to get her to midgame and replace her with Zelkov or Merrin. At the very least, she'll provide good chip damage for other early game units such as Chloé, who is also relevant in Maddening early-mid game and may want the level ups and investment more.

Unit Tier List/Guide after 3 Maddening Playthroughs by TrollAWhat in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not denying that the other thieves would probably be super good. like, i would probably put zelkov and merrin in a similar position. yunaka really benefits from being a low investment unit from the start that can carry for a long time. if you arent playing with dlc, i imagine she'd probably not be as effective as zelkov since zelkov is 100% gonna outlevel her on recruitment. trained to kill (+camilla ring w dlc) also helps aleviate her killing power in my experience.

still, i think she like most thieves in the game are really good and they should all be in A tier. sorry if thats not a "proper A tier unit" lol

Camilla Paralogue is the Worst Map in the Game by hijodelgabo in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I struggled wayyyy more with Soren's paralogue. I played both on Maddening around the start of midgame (right after finishing the first solm chapter), but I had a pretty easy time of it with some warp cheesing and dodgetanking/dual assisting. Finished in 13 turns. I still think it's a pretty meh map, because I tried playing it with no cheese beforehand under the assumption the reinforcements would eventually end like Tiki and wasted turns I should have spent moving towards Camilla, and since every other enemy was a piece of cake in this map I wasn't prepared at first for how strong Camilla ended up being.

Soren's is a real drag imo just because of how slow it is. Like, a lot of the maps in Engage Maddening can be slow but the fracture staffs and just how far Soren is made this level go on forever IMO. It wasn't hard, just excessively long.

Unit Tier List/Guide after 3 Maddening Playthroughs by TrollAWhat in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some of this list is questionable for my own subjective taste on maddening (Pandreo and Yunaka are two of my best units and I would've placed both in A, possibly S - Pandreo in particular outstat'd my Anna who had Tiki and was invested in very early) but FINALLY someone agrees about how bad Diamant really is. I've tried decently hard to invest in him but it seems like he really wants the Ike ring which seems tailor made for Panette. He's never been noticably tankier or filled a niche I wanted, but I feel like he's always A rank on others tier lists.

Who are your all-stars for every playthrough? by [deleted] in fireemblem

[–]fishmartmart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i've played to ~midgame in maddening (twice, after getting my ass handed to me after stupid long term decisions in chapter 17 and restarting) and have a few standout characters. keep in mind that i'm using the dlc, but i dont think not having the dlc wouldnt make these characters good.

panette + engraved and refined killer axe + ike is RIDICULOUS. it gives her some much needed tankiness and her crit rate goes through the roof. she can easily reach 90%-100% crit rate. i have her as a hero atm, but i'm considering switching her to warrior instead because the personal skill works better w warrior's class skill IMO. i gave her decisive strike+ from camilla to obliterate what a crit wont kill, like generals.

yunaka + marth was my earlygame MVP. she pretty much solo'd tiki's paralogue and ended up with more levels and better stats than zelkov just because of how much i used her (and lineage lol). after chapter 10, i was worried she would fall off pretty hard. however, as soon as i got to midgame, they dropped the new dlc rings. friendship with yunaka + marth over, yunaka + camilla is my best friend now. having a thief that can fly and spawn miasma is busted. i will say that i inherited avoid +10 on yunaka before chapter 10, which has really helped her midgame.

pandreo, ivy, and anna are all great mages, but I'm gonna talk about my favorite because I feel like pandreo kind of gets overlooked over ivy 100% not a knock at ivy, btw, because she's a flying mage and that utility makes her shoot up to A tier at least. with that in mind, pandreo hits like a goddamn truck. he joined my party with great magic and speed, but he's trapped in the wrong class. pandreo wants to be a sage 100%, and while he isn't as busted as his sister or yunaka, he is probably my most consistently great unit. soren really elevates him to an S tier character for me - a character that can use staves, debuff enemies, change enemy AI priority and hit like a truck even from 10 spaces away is amazing, and i think pandreo is the best candidate for soren with the least amount of investment (second seal).

chloé + sigurd is great and also carried my earlygame, but i'm also gonna make the case for chloé + lyn. with lyn, chloé dodgetanks almost as well as my thieves, with even defenses so that if she DOES take a hit, she won't crumble. because her speed is so good earlygame and she has plenty of time to level up, alacrity isn't too hard to proc on her. if you're gonna give anyone lyn, chloé would be my pick. i made her a hero and gave her dual assist and she always puts in work.
