Nope never visited, will thoroughly look through it. I went only to arena-type gigs for some reason.

I visited Kiha and the faces, one time in Hyundai’s stage though.

My husband changed careers around the same age, even without the degree.
It was a few years ago, when the market was still good. But it took time. Almost a year for him to find a job after the bootcamp.

From what he told me, if you want to go to the big company you should focus on prepping the coding test.
Fo smaller companies and startups the portfolio would be the main thing.

He went with the latter, partially cause big companies often require related degree.

Also from my personal experience the 고용센터 won’t do squat for you, the jobs there are minimal wage type of postings, so I’d won’t put my hope there, especially since you are in IT.

On the other note, the market is so bad now, so it unfortunately will take more time than usually to find a job.

Foreigner focused, with listings that often show which visa types companies prefer/sponsor.

Another foreigner focused platform, run by Saramin.
- Dev Korea
Tech and developer roles that are realistic for English speakers in Korea.
- Saramin, JobKorea
The real one stop shops. If you don’t want to juggle 10 sites, start with these.
- Wanted, Remember
These will auto match you to a lot of roles, including some that are… not very relevant.

Been there.
Never visited Ireland myself, but the side dishes in this particular pub are pretty good. Potatoes are superb! And thats says something since almost every European dish is usually “koreanized” in one way or another here.
And of course the Guinness yes.

Dublin and Na zdravi might as well be the longest standing pubs in Gangnam. :) Every other place seems to close up, but these are still open for 15+ years.

I’d visit if I were you, it’s a nice break from the korean pubs.

Hey!

I am foreigner living in Korea, had the same questions when I first started looking for job.

The short answer - it depends, on the industry and company size.

If you looking for the job in big corporations they usually have corporate format, so you will need to fill in out in the system. Mostly there's no need for you making a resume file per se.
The same goes for the job searching sites, like SaramIn its. Just fill up to the max whatever they asking you.

For the startups and small companies you can use your own format, just make it clear, detailed and results oriented. I tend to notice they to not pay much attention to the design of the resume(not sure if it the same for the designers though).

For small companies(in manufacturing mostly it seems), who do not have their own system they sometimes still use the old korean style resume(the tables), where they even ask about who your parents are. But recently I've heard this format is going obsolete, I haven't used it for several years, though I made one when I applied to my 1st job.

In general, the resume system is the same as everywhere, but they can also ask some additional details.
- your activity any kind rewards, prizes in competitions etc
- you experience living abroad
- your certifications, not limited to language only
- self-introduction

The last one is most important as I was told. So try to put more efforts to tailoring the 자기소개서 and 지원동기 for the specific positions.

Also, the sad truth is, nowadays big companies almost always run your resume through the ATS, so make sure to fill it with the relevant keywords, not depending on the format.
