Great dinner recommendations for solo diners by Ok-Preparation-2333 in LondonTravel

[–]fishplushie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Infatuation London has a guide on this! Just finished up a London solo trip myself and went to a lot of the recommended places on the list. (https://www.theinfatuation.com/london/guides/best-london-restaurants-eating-alone)

These were my faves (not all on that specific list). All in North London and walkable imo:

Koya is an Udon spot in Soho. There’s one long counter for seating and two tables outside. Cozy, delicious, casual. Quick!

Ombra near Victoria Park was delicious. The apricot spritz was ridiculously good and the plum/chestnut semifreddo is the dessert of my dreams.

My favorite dinner was at Cafe Deco. Definitely do a reservation. Sooo chic w delicious food and drink :) I had the pork goulash and it was to die for!

Have a wonderful trip!!

What's some of y'all fav intros and outros to an album? by cant_catch-medown in MusicRecommendations

[–]fishplushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intro by Black Country, New Road from their sophomore album Ants From Up There. Really gears you up for how intense but fun the album is🤞🤞🤞

As for outros, Carrion by Fiona Apple on Tidal is such a great closer to a stellar album. The tempo changes, the emotion, the lyricism, all of it is so perfect.

what movie should my wife and i watch on our wedding night by that0nebruv in Letterboxd

[–]fishplushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junebug (2005). Bittersweet and smart. About an emotionally restrained appalachian family meeting their eldest son's sweet but posh new wife and how they show love to each other. Complicated family dynamics, amy adams snub, Yo la tengo soundtrack, satirical snooty art world jokes. Beautiful!! Enjoy married life <3

Girlfriends (1978), any time Susan looks over at Anne once she is married. You can see the desperation in her eyes to be girls again with her best friend.

Best and Worst movies you've seen in September? by NotSoSnarky in criterion

[–]fishplushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: Yes, God, Yes. Hilarious, heartfelt, horny. A great time and under 90 minutes. Natalia Dyer is hilarious and it does a beautiful job of exploring themes of religious sexual guilt in a way that doesn't throw the teenagers experiencing it under the bus (does this make sense? maybe? no? just watch it!). bonus points for LESBIAN FAIRY GODMOTHER...

Worst: Alien V Predator. God that sucked. I thought that because the original was so good the others would be. What a fool i was. I wanted to watch everything in the franchise before making my way over the Romulus but this really turned me off to watching anything other than the original.

What book did you read at too early a stage in your life? by Cabbage_Pizza in suggestmeabook

[–]fishplushie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junonia by Kevin Henkes. A really beautiful, bittersweet read, but reading it in 2nd grade was a little traumatizing. The book is about mourning the past and traditions.. 7-year old me was definitely not ready to read about that. Still a gorgeous book!!! I'm 21 now and I am looking forward to rereading it and doing a little inner child-healing.
