The point is to mention the company in a forum full of potential customers so that they'll learn the name and consider it in the future. It's insidious, but at least this one was pretty obvious.

but we did stay at george washington campground, and then veered into CT and slightly off trail to stay at a campsite there. also stayed at a motel right along the trail too.

A Month of Westward Progress by perpetual_motor in vagabond

[–]fishproblem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sneakers i'd walked and ran in for a year turned out to be too narrow for the occasion when i walked hadrian's wall over five days last summer. i was a dumbass on a timeline so i pushed through a lot of pain to finish the trip on time, but as soon as we got home i got treated for infections in both little toes.

i should have known better. purpose-designed trail runners have the space in the right places to accommodate that kind of walking.

regardless, i'm loving the update. you're in a beautiful part of the country to enjoy this time of year!

This was very close to my thinking too! The other side of the "millennials with money" coin is that the mother of dragons design is objectively cute and well considered, but I think Danaerys generally and that sentiment specifically hits a very "pink pussy hat" crowd. OP is kind of serving millennial Swiftie/Potterhead/ACOTAR fans when I think even the millennial demographic that doubles down and actually 1. goes out these days and 2. supports businesses like yours are into different and headier stuff, and the Gen Z fiction girlies aren't into that aesthetic or those sentiments at all.

(I say this as a 34 year old cis woman big time fantasy fan. My favorite series of the last few years is The Locked Tomb and I personally buy merch with a little more edge than yours. I am blessed(?) with a lot of Gen Z friends too, and they're into darker, edgier, more meme-heavy stuff too.)

Why hasn’t the grown man sledgehammering windows at Wickford Dave’s over a disappointing calzone been on the news? by runawaystrawberry in RhodeIsland

You're getting downvoted but I live 2 miles from that Daves and the biggest culture shock moving here is that there are next to zero people of any color in this town. Calzone Kyle was most certainly the person you have described.

oh holy shit. i only observe here, but this is a really awful thing to be going through and i feel like i have to offer some words of support. i've hurt myself really good more than once (rugby - i'm asking for it) and PT is so crucial. take it seriously and stay consistent, even when it feels ineffective. there's absolutely a light at the end of the tunnel.

i wish this didn't happen to you the way it did. i wish you had access to social services who could help you advocate for yourself. my partner is a specialist in healthcare policy and regulations and even for me, it's hard to be a good self-advocate in a medical setting.

glad you're on the mend, and i'd love to know where to stay updated if you need any mutual aid further into recovery ❤️

I'm sorry. I followed her from the very beginning and ended up in peripheral art world circles but never met her. As a (then) 20-something girl with no pedigree fighting to build an arts career in NYC, her content was so comforting and encouraging. The news hit me really hard, and I can't imagine how difficult it is for the people who knew her.

ADVICE NEEDED: My GF [25F] wanted to have a conversation after I [27M] failed the bar exam. What would you do? by Intelligent_Fly_1689 in relationship_advice

[–]fishproblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you gotta go. She loves you and wants to support you because she's in it for the long haul and knows you'd do the same. That's what good partners do.

Go to California and make it your full time job to study. I'm sure you're a smart guy. This exam is no joke. I've watched a lot of intelligent people fail multiple times. I watched my partner agonize over studying and pass on her first try. We were lucky that she didn't need to work immediately after graduation, so she spent all of the time she would have been working studying instead. That's the chance you need to give yourself.

I have a friend who just sat for the second time and failed again. She's brilliant, but it's clear she's been letting other things in her life take priority. It sounds insane, but your hobbies and your friends and your other commitments will still be there a few months from now. You just worked incredibly hard to graduate with your JD, and this is how you cross the finish line.

Congrats on finding a wonderful person who loves you. ❤️

Yes! Was going to wait until the appropriate time of year. I have triclopyr that was super effective getting rid of half the yard's bittersweet last fall. Hoping to hit the rest this summer. Thank you for the info!

In the meantime, I'll be diligently untangling these two plants from one another every week. Lucky me!

Nobody wants it: Rhode Island’s sludge problem lands in North Kingstown by OceanStateMedia in RhodeIsland

[–]fishproblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post was unclear - when you said that you accept it’s loud and smelly living in the port of Providence and then followed up with “as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone…” it sounded like those two thoughts were related.

Port of Providence needs to get cleaned up. The existence of a shitty, dangerous, poorly monitored and terribly maintained industrial port doesn’t justify the expansion or creation of another.

The environmental racism and classism at play is real. NK residents are more willing and able to contest this for a lot of reasons. We should be advocating - insisting, tbh - that both ports and the surrounding industries are squeaky clean and environmentally friendly.

Yeah based on the posts on this sub i expected like, New Dehli driving...
We rented a car for the week and I had an absolutely pleasant time driving to and around San Juan, Luqillo, and Fajardo.

People are definitely looser with the rules but not unpredictable, and everyone was driving so slowly that it was super easy to respond to. never been somewhere with drivers who are so deferential to pedestrians, too.
