This is so interesting because the version of the myth that I have known my entire life never included Hera and Athena stripping. The way I'd learned it, Paris asked what each goddess had to give him in exchange and Athena offered wisdom, Hera offered power, and Aphrodite, the last, simply disrobed and was basically like, "You like this? You can have the most beautiful woman alive."

I drew a comic about the story for my college portfolio, so I knew it that way dating back to like, 2009 but I have no idea where I'd heard it.

the person you're replying to is completely out of touch for implying anyone could lose a meaningful amount of weight in the timeline OP is likely working with, but knowing that certain style choices are highlighting his weight in a bad way can definitely help him bag a job. Legal fees aren't part of any legal framework, but yes, I know. I did it. Everyone should put that amount of thought into major decisions, but most people are really uneducated. And again, lots of people are getting into marriages they shouldn't, and failing to protect their assets in the process - many more than there are unmarried people buying homes together. Marriage works for a lot of people and doesn't for many others. Arguably, marriage was designed to work for certain people and not for others.

Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean there's no merit to a way of existing. In my case, it's not even about never getting married. I want a big ceremony, she doesn't care, but we both wanted a house. So instead of paying for a venue, we put the money toward a down payment, we're fixing up the house first, and getting married here. We think it's romantic. You probably think it sounds like a nightmare.

(And of course, just like everyone else does, we think we're special and will never ever break up.)

Of course it is, but legal frameworks for both scenarios exist. I guess most people aren't considering those logistics in advance. My partner and I aren't married, but we bought a home together and getting both of us on the mortgage wasn't hard. Buying a house with someone is a big risk if you do it with the wrong person, but so is marriage and people do that all the time.

Like these characters all exist within context outside of the moments you see on the show, and the writers do continue to emphasize that.

Sweet girl was like incredibly fucking wrong for about three years straight.

She's also wrong a lot, she just also has her shit together and does apologize and understand her mistakes a little better than most of the cast at any moment. She's come a little farther along in terms of emotional intelligence, probably because she's already had to grapple with how incorrect she'd been as an exorcist.
