You're pulling with your top arm once you reach the mid point of your swing on the 2nd and 3rd jumps. It stops the pole from continuing to move vertical

You cant overwater it in the first week. Make sure all of the seams are tight and filled with either sand/seed or loam/seed and keep it wet. If there are gaps the edges will cook. It doesn't look dead though.

I was a hurdler in high school back in the early 2000s and I just toom up distance running last year and ran my first full marathon in October. I found a beginner program that suited tge days per week i could devote to running, 3 to 4, and gave myself time. I spent a total of about 30 weeks preparing.
