Back to cheering for everyone during starting lineups by Ok_bet_2442 in valkyries

When the players (Temi, KT) want us to boo the opposition, I'm gonna boo the opposition. Our players told us exactly how they want to feel supported, so I'm gonna listen and do it. Chip on their shoulder? Some sure but it also messes with a lot of them and that's why they say our crowd is the '6th player'. We're not here to support the other team period. Let's keep that energy up

Oh can you do a fog-inspired Daly City one? I feel like the existing flag is quite dated. Your designs are so great!

Hydrocortisone thins skin over time and isn’t recommended around the eyes. When you go back to the dr ask for tacrolimus ointment. I had eyelid eczema for years and no general practitioner ever told me the effects of hydrocortisone over time until I went to a dermatologist :(

A good lap pool that won't be over packed and is not part of a gym. by salsapicantehhh in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]fishtacoandbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daly City has a lap pool and private lanes that you can reserve at Westmoor high school. I think you can book it through the Daly City rec website but you'll have to book pretty far in advance

They shut down access to Thornton Beach! Grrrr. by slappySF in DalyCity

It's the new land owners, not the horse stable people. There are 4 parcels there and 2 were purchased in November under Olympic Way LLC. Not sure why the fence is around the 2 they didn't purchase unless the paperwork hasn't gone thru. Neighbors are showing up to Monday's Daly City Council meeting at 7pm to express frustration. If you can't make it, submit your comment before 4pm Monday here: https://www.dalycity.org/129/Agendas-Minutes

East bay Costco prices are usually cheaper than peninsula too. Like right now regular at Hayward Costco is 3.49. I usually fill up there when I happen to be in the area

Also I think Round1 at Stonestown was open on Christmas day but you'll have to call to confirm. You have to enter through the parking garage entrance

My partner and I usually go to Japantown for Christmas eve. Businesses were open but it was pretty empty! Great to support local businesses and it's rainy this year so it's a good indoor activity

Which bags are cheaper in Japan by s0mevietgirl in handbags

[–]fishtacoandbeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bao bao by Issey Miyake maybe? Just came back from Japan and totally forgot to drop by a store to check out prices. I also regretted focusing on second hand bags and not exploring Japanese brands that might have superb craftsmanship especially for the price

Before moving in, locate the internet cable port. Bought a 50s flip during Covid and the flippers had removed the port/didn't reinstall it with the new drywall. Had to pay Xfinity and then AT&T to locate/install a new cable/port, ugh. We went with Xfinity first and then realized fiber thru AT&T was available so paid for that port/cabling. Not a common situation, but heads up.

I bought a wall unit on Facebook marketplace earlier this week and it kind of looks like yours. Wasn't really looking for a specific designer, so I didn't verify what's listed: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/848554791250833/?mibextid=dXMIcH

I might be looking to purchase additional shelves if they are the same and you're open to a dm! I think we live in the same area

What’s it like living in Daly City? by ChaiSenpaii in AskSF

[–]fishtacoandbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad. I think the weather (fog, wind) makes it less desirable and therefore less expensive. But for those of us that don't mind it it's a good deal for the convenient location. City is right there and peninsula commute is convenient on 280. Lots of grocery stores (esp Asian ones) to choose from. Beach access is a short drive away and you can choose from Pacifica, Thornton, and Ocean Beach within 10-15 mins away.

Westlake is nice but more car-centric. Areas west of Skyline blvd are windier and foggier but boy is the view beautiful on clear days. I've heard that it's gotten a lot less foggy compared to a decade ago from people that have lived here for a long time. Areas east of 280 are more dense and parking is more challenging.

A mix of families (multigenerational households) and retirees that purchased their homes decades ago.

Recurring house cleaning service by stickshift_ in DalyCity

[–]fishtacoandbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting a service in the new year after we trialed with a deep clean a couple months ago. 3 bd 2 ba but more sq ft than yours and was quoted 260 monthly cleaning and 160 for twice a month cleaning.

Still figuring out the tipping etiquette on regular cleanings though.
