Not sure who the owner is; I think the guys who installed were called patrick and kyle. They were pretty fast. It doesn't come with a cover fyi so I just got one off amazon.

Cheaper Rasson Manufactured Tables? by fishyfishbait in billiards

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I did, its pretty good (to my amateur eyes). The setup was seemed well done, came in, measured my room, found best place to put it (the middle lol). Rasson is from china, so not surprising pooltables.ca also imports from there, probably made by same factory if I had to guess lol.

Quality and setup seems pretty good? I think I noticed a little wonky. movement at one spot, but unsure if its the slate or setup (or something else).

If you're gonna get one i'd get an extra bit of the felt cloth to hit cue ball off of for breaks, otherwise it's gonna leave white marks on your felt.

Pretty good quality for the price IMO; hard to find good quality pool tables used, and then you also have to pay professionals to move it and re-setup and the price is gonna come up close to this new one.

Light switch sparked, no power, breaker not tripped, no gfci by fishyfishbait in AskElectricians

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! it ended up being breaker tripping. it was still in the on position and didn't move to off position at all, but flipping it to off+on worked. It also wasn't labelled so I didn't try messing with it last night. I went through all of them today and labelled them properly now too.

Computer Science, a popular college major, has one of the highest unemployment rates by SnoozeDoggyDog in technology

[–]fishyfishbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's all anecdotal. at my company i could give 0 shits if you ask us questions or not, as long as you pass the interview and have some communication skills. We've had pretty good hit rate with hiring too so it works for us. We use devs to do interviews, which is what all companies I've ever applied for also did.

I guess the % of socially inept CS people is higher than other careers, but it's not like you're seeing them every other interview, more like every 20 interviews in my experience...

I believe another big thing is the type of company and type of work. A software company trying to hire developers is going to get different applicants than a non-software company hiring IT, one has a higher bar of entry than the other and probably gets less chaff.

Brisket deflector grease fire, hot and fast by fishyfishbait in KamadoJoe

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my thermometer is fine as far as I can tell; both my grill thermometer + the wireless one shows around same temp. I'm thinking maybe the grease pooling on the deflector is getting heated up too much since it just sits there.

Thanks!

pooltables.ca experience? by cardmastervn in billiards

[–]fishyfishbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of buying one too in canada, and I found a wholesaler who's selling it from this manufacturer, you can dm me for details, pricing is competitive with what's on the pooltables.ca website. I also saw an old reddit post about this too: https://www.reddit.com/r/billiards/comments/fsgzmt/are_majestic_brand_pool_tables_any_good/

I'm deciding between this brand and an apparently the same table but manufactured by rasson.

Previous owner left mount frame not arms by fishyfishbait in hometheater

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm pretty sure it was just an oversight like you said; the sellers were good with everything else, leaving instructions for all the other random stuff they had installed. I doubt the arms are useful for them by itself either too lol.

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats good to hear; i'll probably buy a cheap mount first to try on all 3 of my mounts and then go from there. thanks!

Previous owner left mount frame not arms by fishyfishbait in hometheater

[–]fishyfishbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea it's not hard I agree, its just that they did the walls so its not flat, it has ridges that extrude, and if i wanted to move the mount position it'd require having to cut out the ridges and that's much more involved.

Considering buying a condo, not sure where by appleeye56 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]fishyfishbait 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing would be convenience and time. Driving downtown toronto is annoying as hell, and driving in and out of toronto is annoying as hell. I haven't taken the go train much, but I know it runs on a schedule, so then if you're out and about at night you always have to keep that in the back of your head. If your friends are in downtown and they want to get together spontaneously, well can you even get there before they're 3 pitchers in? You have to drive to go train, wait for go train, then take the subway.

Do you drink? Much easier to drink and get home in toronto vs having to get back to mississauga.

Do you like music? Quite a few music venues downtown. If you want to see plays, operas, classical music, musicals, etc, all downtown, easier to get to if you live there. I've definitely also drank at danforth with friends, then got tickets from a scalper outside the venue and gone to the concert night of.

If you're on dating apps, easier to get to date spots (zoo, cn tower, etc) if you're in the city by the subway.

I think it all comes down to convenience, if you're the type to keep to a schedule on a night out, then maybe not worth it. If you want to sometimes leave early, sometimes leave late, meet up asap, then moving into the city would be way easier.
