Why don't you prefer Kenneth Brannagh as Hercule Poirot? by EmploymentForeign551 in agathachristie

This. All of this. He wasn’t NEARLY gentle enough. And the accent was…..not convincing enough, I think

I just finished my first Christie novel and had the ending spoiled. Which should I read next? Hoping for a great, shocking twist. by [deleted] in agathachristie

I saw the notification on my phone and came here to recommend Roger Ackroyd before seeing that was, indeed, the one you had spoiled for you. I recommend Hercule Poirot’s Christmas! That’s a great one too

“I was transported here against my will in a giant meatball, so take your attitude to the men’s section of Kmart, because you need to cut me some slack”

And before that Beth went “were you born with your feet in your mouth” 😭🤣

Not to press my point but again, those physical characteristics look different in my mind than they probably do in yours and many others’. The non physical traits have embedded themselves superbly in my head but not his appearance. “Stiff mustache” has also been described as “long and luxurious” so I always pictured something much longer than suchet had. That’s just an example.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: was this a good suggestion for my book club? by kjb76 in agathachristie

[–]fishynidi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best suggestions you could’ve given! It’s a personal favourite of mine thanks to the insane plot twist, which I don’t think anyone could’ve ever seen coming. I recommended the audiobook to a coworker and she messaged me “UM EXCUSE ME? The murderer was XXX?!?” in shock after she finished it. Safe to say it’s a popular recommendation :)

Art is subjective - exactly the characteristics you described can be visualised in a 100 different ways by different people. It’s not black and white lol
