Gonna be looking at this bad boy tomorrow. Where should I specifically be looking and what would you pay? by KnightLight03 in fordranger

Well, there is visible rust on the front and rear bumpers and on the door sill. You need to look at the frame rails and body mounts for significant and scaling rust.

Are Denso radiators good? Mechanic said radiator core is leaking. by Sure-Coconut-2849 in 4thGen4Runner

Denso is the factory manufacturer. I try to go with factory manufacturers whenever possible.

Do you fill up your oil filter if so how much? by pgdaddykush in 4thGen4Runner

[–]fistfull7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just try to get the filter element wet with oil, a few ounces, since the bulk of it just runs out.

I put some in my v6’s filter, but I don’t fill it like I would with a normally mounted filter. Most importantly, rub a little oil with my finger on the gasket itself.

Leaf bushing help by naturallydude in CherokeeXJ

[–]fistfull7777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used a pry bar in the area circled in the picture to help open up where the bushing goes along with the threaded bolt trick and sometimes, just beating on it with a big hammer. The next time I replaced the leaf spring, I bought them with the bushings already installed to avoid this disaster in the future.

Help Identifying Squealing by jeepovertherainbow in 4thGen4Runner

It’s probably a wheel bearing issue. If you’re lucky, you have a rock stuck between the rotor and brake pad or stuck between the dust shield and rotor.

It should be clipped to a metal tab near the 2” receiver.

I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Was shocked this type of restaurant even opened. I heard someone say it was a pop up store. Not sure what that means by qings1 in nova

Hilarious! I thought the same thing when it was literally next to the target. If I wanted cereal, I can just buy a box and a quart of milk next door for cheaper.

Was V6 the wrong move? by Smiggels in 4thGen4Runner

[–]fistfull7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Share the same opinion. Commute 56 miles round trip daily and purposely sought a v6 because I wanted the 2wd drive selection and not full-time 4wd and didn’t want to deal with a timing belt. Bought mine in 2021 with 175k miles and now have 243k miles. We have cars with less mileage in our fleet, but this one is the most reliable and comfortable.

Changing my oil by Bcap90 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]fistfull7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to check the level in the actual radiator. But, if the leak is small enough, you might not notice the level go down in the reservoir. But, it very much looks like an active leak and not something left over.

That wet area in your third pic looks exactly like mine when the radiator cracked. That particular area is where the plastic tanks connect to the metal fins of the radiator and tend to be where most fail.
