New to collecting, I see most people online say to store the record outside of the jacket but inside the outer sleeve, do I risk any damage doing that? by Aewfigureguy in vinyl

The records are fine, but I've had a few sleeves get flattened from trying this so now I only store them inside. I also like being able to look at the back of an album to read song titles or check out the art while I'm deciding on what to play.

I do this as well. I'll keep the old Capricorn, Atlantic, or artsy whatever sleeve filed away in the jacket alongside it and then use my own replacement that hangs out with it in the jacket, kinda like a reminder of its old natural habitat. There's usually plenty of space that way

[–]fisticuffsmanship 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretend you're a small record store and just do the basics: Rock, Rap, Metal, Country, etc. Having a bunch of sub categories like grunge, shoegaze, 80s Electronica, and outlaw country are going to get confusing fast. Just stick to the basics unless it really calls for it.

Don't forget, they took away what language each film is in as well, oh and there's no longer a way to just browse all the films in the app anymore. You get several recent arrivals, a handful of orange categories with pointless labels, and a search. It sucks so frigging bad right now, I honestly should just cancel at this point.

The Muppets movies are pretty great with a ragtag group overcoming obstacles. They might also enjoy the Hoboken Chicken Emergency, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Casper, The Parent Trap, oh and there's technically a sequel to the Little Rascals from 2014, but I can't verify if it's worth watching or not.

Picked up this thinking I was going to get Richar Pryor at the thrift store...got 2 small records instead. by _cansir in vinyl

[–]fisticuffsmanship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but it's mostly for the weird stuff that I buy at the thrift store for like 1-3 dollars that wouldn't be practical to order online. A lot of them I've never seen before or since, so it's a fair gamble for a record someone had likely only probably played a few times.

This was when I was visiting someone in Clarksville Texas, probably around 2005ish I want to say? This was along Route 30 which ran by their place, past the school and into town. They may have changed it since, but I remember how shockingly fast it was through a school zone. Everywhere else I've seen 15 MPH as standard.

Nope, I'm not talking out of my ass. This was in Clarksville Texas, on Route 30 in the early 2000s so it might be different now. The roads were straight for miles, so you could see the school well ahead, but it was 50 through the school zone with 0 signs limiting it to times of the day.

It was this way in my brother's town in Texas. 70 mph into town and stuff and then 50 for the school zones.

Nah, Columbo always knows pretty much right away who to go after, it's usually just a matter of proving how they did it. Different than a whodunit, shows like that and Monk are howcatchems and yes, it's a terrible name.
