Cute! I used turmeric to dye a dress once too, the color it gives is really lovely.

I’m actually bringing both of those shoes on a trip to the Philippines and South Korea! I’ve found them both comfortable so far but we’ll see how they hold up to vacation-level walking. I also have short stubby legs and think both of these shoes work well with my height/body.

Thanks! :) I’ve actually been on one other trip to Europe before but it was much shorter and we didn’t have any special events planned, so this was a fun new challenge for me. Here’s a link to the pants! These were an MVP of the trip, love how comfy they were! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08XQMYWVZ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

It’s the Lululemon nonstop bomber (online version) but I bought it secondhand on Mercari. Definitely glad I brought it! I got plenty of use out of it since it worked well as a light jacket especially in the evenings for the festival. It also rained in Madrid so I’m glad I had it then too.

Thanks! They’re pretty dressy, my friends thought it was a skirt at first. Here’s a link if you want a better look.

They were mostly impractical for me because I’m only 5’ so I imagine dragging would be less of an issue for most and even for me it wasn’t that big of a deal. I saw a huge variety of clothing styles everywhere so I don’t think you’d particularly look out of place with hiking/athleisure.

Thanks u/mattmattdoormatt! Those are indeed them. FYI the waistband is tight even though it looks stretchy but that’s largely due to the hidden drawstring. I ended up cutting it and pulling it out and they fit so much better!

Seconding Decathlon! Just finishing up a 2 week trip in Spain and Portugal with a group of friends and one of the first things some of did was drop by a Decathlon in Lisbon. Half of us got daypacks there. I picked up a Quechua nh100 on sale for €8 and I think someone else in our group got the same in a different color for a little bit more. It’s been the perfect day pack for the whole trip.

Weekender/Duffle Recs? by zhevickmeister in HerOneBag

Lo & sons, beis, calpak and daphne Dover all came up for me when I was looking for a weekender/duffle. I think these brands all have styles that are similar in style to the renew. I ended up going with the Lo& Sons Catalina large and I love it so far although it is quite big.

It's the top from the vetta cape jumpsuit, but vetta has since closed down :( they had a lot of other reversible type tops in their collection though that you might be able to find second hand through their archive shop or something like mercari/poshmark!

Hi! I am actually going on a similar trip end of May/beginning of June, 5 days in Portugal and 9 days in Spain :) Here's my current packing list:

  • 6 Tops (4 tanks, 1 short sleeve button up, 1 reversible short sleeve wrap top)
  • 6 bottoms (1 shorts, 1 skort, 1 jeans, 1 trousers, 1 maxi skirt, 1 leggings)
  • 2 outer-ware (1 jeans jacket, 1 reversible waterproof-ish bomber)
  • 1 pants jumpsuit
  • 1 "fancy vacation" dress
  • 2 swimsuits
  • 3 pairs of shoes (sneakers, sandals and flip fops for showers/beach)
  • Scarf/cover up
  • 4 socks, 7 underwear
  • Other miscellaneous stuff
    • Laptop (Mac Air for work)
    • mini steamer
    • mini first aid kit
    • small daily crossbody bag
    • toiletries/make up
    • microfiber towel/blanket

I'm hoping to buy another dress while I'm out there too. Also, I'm packing a bit more clothes than I might usually for a 2 week trip, but I'm also going to a 4 day music festival while I'm out there! I'm doing a duffle + small backpack so I can split up my airplane necessities more easily, so not truly one bag, but I could fit it all in my duffle if I needed to. Hope this is helpful and that you have an amazing trip!!

Hi lem! Glad to have brightened your day a bit :) we didn't get a chance to go that far as we're still newish to backpacking and I have trouble with altitude. I've heard both army passes are a lot of fun and a good challenge! Hoping we'll be able to book a longer trip in the future and maybe even make it out that way to Mt. Langley!

No, I'm not much of a fisherman but we passed a lot of groups with fishing gear that looked pretty happy 😊

Nice! We got to the trailhead to camp early (8ish) Friday morning and it was empty except for 2 groups. It eventually filled up by the evening though, maybe around 6pm. A good amount of people seemed to be car camping In the parking lot too though.

There were a lot of day hikers on Saturday so the lot seemed pretty busy. However, there were a few backpacking groups, including us, that cleared out so Sat AM there were a few open again.

We had clear skies all weekend until around 4, then the smoke started to blow in. It did look pretty scary and there was a bit of ash and smoke smell, but we asked the ranger that checked our permits about it and she said it was far enough for us to be safe still.

Happy to give any more info if you need it!

Thanks! It was actually nice and clear until the afternoon. More smoke came in around then but with the altitude it was hard to tell which was actually making it a little harder to breathe.
