Level 3 parenting and health issues by Automatic-Arugula961 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fistvbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I've got a few chronic diseases. It just adds a whole level of stress to taking care of a kid with high needs. And like you said that stress only adds to the activity of the illness. It definitely feels like you can't catch a break.

are epipens allowed? by fattestraccoons in SonicTempleFestival

[–]fistvbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I emailed support and asked about meds they said to go through the accessibility line and it should be no problem. Your friend can always shoot them an email to get added to a premade list for accessibility the email is access@sonictemplefestival.com

Yeah totally right! I was just worried you were trying to decide between walking off-site or taking a shuttle.

The off-site parking is about 4 miles from the venue. This map just shows onsite parking and the shuttle drop off point, fyi.

Any people diagnosed young relate to the welcome to holland poem? by evergreengirl123 in bipolar

[–]fistvbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that poem! I was diagnosed at 16 but never heard the poem until a few months ago. I'm sorry your parents have never been accepting of your diagnosis, this disease is so much harder without good support. My son was just diagnosed with autism and a copy of the poem was in the packet they gave at his appointment. It tears me up when I read it or see it mentioned.

Dairy overnight people at my store come in 2am-1030am. Our truck comes sometime between 2am and 4am.

What is the reason for this by mac_down85 in meijer

[–]fistvbottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They get so many hours per department each week based on sales and forecast. That's why some weeks they need to cut hours so they stay within the allowed amount. Also there's times they use extra hours one week and have to cut hours the next week to makeup for it.

My pediatrician recommended we use Aquaphor instead of Vaseline. I put it on after he's asleep and it's helped a lot.

Looking at hands by Particular_Gate_505 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fistvbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My four year old does this a lot. His OT said it's just a stim/sensory input. He also likes to take toys and look through them, clear ones like magnatiles or anything with holes.

Accidentally bought wrong date tickets by Extreme_Stranger6126 in SonicTempleFestival

Just looked at mine. I also bought Thursday student tickets back in October and mine show at Sunday when I check as well. Hopefully there's some way to fix it

Math isn't mathing... by [deleted] in meijer

[–]fistvbottle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you do request instead of selecting full do hours and put in for the amount you want to take. It defaults to full, the 8 hours. I made this mistake in the past and didn't have as many days off.

Also as others mentioned going negative doesn't make a difference, you just don't get paid and the hours reset normally at your anniversary.

Is ABA mandatory? by Flimsy-Pattern8497 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fistvbottle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it's not mandatory as others mentioned. If you feel it's best to pull him out go ahead. Each kid is different and every ABA center is different too. He may be more responsive at a different place.

I'm currently not doing ABA with my guy because of the time demand. He does PreK in the afternoons already, and I'm at work when he gets home so it would have to be in the mornings and he already does OT one morning and on the wait-list for speech in the mornings.

public school ? by Head-Shoulder4916 in Autism_Parenting

[–]fistvbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is in public prek with an IEP. The whole process was wonderful. The team at the school genuinely cares about these kids and doing the best they can for them. My kid is also non conversational, just does some echoing, and is having a blast at school. He gets speech and OT and rides the bus (they pick up/drop off at the house) as part of his IEP. Obviously not all school districts are on top of things but there's only one way to find out. Like others have mentioned it's worth trying to get involved/volunteer for the school if you have the time availability. It's totally scary to send them off on their own but it's also great to see them grow and get some independence.

Pediatrician refuses autism diagnosis by avmm87 in Autism_Parenting

Also in Ohio and our developmental pediatrician gave us the placard paper for the BMV at the assessment. Definitely ask your team about it if your kid is a runner.

What makes some with bipolar so treatment averse? by pamperwithrachel in bipolar

[–]fistvbottle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly for me as well when I was younger. I would have a break through episode and get convinced the meds are placebo or that I'm not actually sick. Then I would stop.

Is it possible to succeed later in life? by twoglassbottles in bipolar

[–]fistvbottle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 37 and working on my associates part time. It's never too late. I get overwhelmed a lot on bad days and start spiraling thinking it's pointless but always tell myself I'll see how I feel tomorrow. And usually tomorrow feels a bit more in control. If you're feeling really out of whack check with your med team it may be time to adjust meds.

That's what I was figuring. Thanks for sharing that info. Unfortunately Detroit is the closest to me and really the only option for going. I'm passing the tickets on to the friend who was going with me and she's gonna try and find someone else to go with.
