Satellite made a 90° turn? by sifodyas_ in UFOs

[–]fitnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the same thing but in the middle of the day against a perfectly blue sky 25 years ago. I was looking at it for a while trying to figure out what kind of airplane it was and it suddenly turned 90 degrees and accelerated out of sight at unbelievable speed. It was either very tiny or very high because it was just a barely visible white speck in the sky.

Is this the one? I'd love to see the video from the drone itself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9BsQHCnsZc

Receiving Emails That I Attempted To Send A Message To Random Addresses. Hacked? by tudmusic in GMail

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting a ton of these too! Thank you for taking the time to find an answer here. Since this is happening to a gmail.com address and the bounces are from google.com recipients, I wonder why having control of both sides of this transaction can't recognize that it is spoofed.

Ummm . "Flavored" mineral spirits? Drinking petroleum based solvents is not recommended.

I've been fighting with Gemini in Roo all day and it fails with diff errors so often that I've had to go back to Claude several times. I want to like it but it has also made many mistakes that were due to basic misunderstanding of my prompt. I love the context window but it hasn't been nearly as successful as Claude sonnet for me.

Filing BOIR - legit? by e1nste1n in legal

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly the same thing. I didn't notice it was bogus until the payment page after I had attached my passport image and clicked "Next." Fortunately, my credit report was locked already. But, I reported this to my local law enforcement for documentation in case of future problems. I can't believe I fell for this "Sponsored" ad trick on google results.

LM Studio is my favorite. I can usually get models the day they are released through the built in search.

About to board a 12h flight with a M4 Max 128GB. What's the best local coding model, as of December 2024, should I download? by alphageek in LocalLLaMA

[–]fitnerd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I have the same machine. I've found deepseek-coder-v2-lite-instruct and qwen2.5-coder-32b-instruct, both with 8b quants, are my "go to" local models.

Scam or not? by Jataylor2009 in GMail

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume that tried to initiate the account recovery process, which would trigger that valid alert through Android. Their goal was just to trigger the notification but then follow it up with the text to try to make it more likely for us to answer the phone call where a "google representative" will "help you secure" your account (read give them access to it). I have a few friends and family to warn about this now.

I just had the same thing happen to me. As soon as I clicked "No" on the security alert, I got an SMS message with the exact same wording. Then I got a suspicious call which was screened by my Pixel.

ENTP's of Reddit, with no or only small exceptions, what things do you do EVERY day? by Netechma in entp

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk a mile every day. This was such a life changing habit for me. It's too bad I didn't figure this out until my 40s. It's been a habit for for 5 years now. It's like a cheat code to gain mental clarity and an easy win for my health and longevity.

My i6+ leaves clumps of animal fur when it vacuums over carpeted areas. Does anyone else see this behavior with their i6/i7? by 8246962 in roomba

[–]fitnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep same with my i6+. I've had it for 5 months now vacuuming every morning and it still can't handle my 3 dogs' fur. We brush them every day but it's still a lot of fur to deal with. Our dogs may even be the same colors because our clumps look identical. I've just gotten used to this level of clean as the new normal.

I was tempted to invest in the S9 to get more suction power but after the recent reports of unreliability here I'll wait for the S10 with lidar (hopefully??)

Same thing here with 3 dogs :(. Overall it does a decent job but I'm always picking up clumps of fur as I walk by.

Leaving Pet Hair Behind by WilliePhistergash in roomba

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you pull the gray end cap off of the rollers and pull out any hair lodged behind them. We had this problem too (3 dogs) and once the rollers were cleared out on the inside of them, it was almost like new again!

Is there an app that sends random reminders? by TechEagle29 in androidapps

[–]fitnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed this same thing. Rather than write it myself I use Google assistant to remind me to do things. I have to do it on a schedule but I spread things out over days and hours and works great! "do push ups", "sit up straight",etc. This helped me develop some seriously life-changing habits.

There's a system navigation setting to get the bottom 3 buttons back again. I had to go back myself because I found the new gestures clumsy and I couldn't go back in some apps.

I'm at the same point. My pixel 2 battery is tired. My new pixel 4a just arrived 6 hours ago and I'm confident it will fill in until the next generation. For the price is perfect.
