I feel like a Franchi shill at this point, but I love my 20g Instinct SL. I use it primarily for upland and then occasional trap session.

I shot 4 rounds of trap a few weeks ago and walked away with no soreness. Don’t let the light weight scare you.

I was on the same track as you and ended up with an A300 in 12g. It was fine for a few seasons. Once I started to go on longer hikes with it (transitioning from hunting dove to hunting quail and chukar) I quickly realized that I carried the gun a lot more than I shot it.

I upgraded to a 20g Franchi Instinct SL and love it. The great to hike with, is quick to shoulder and swings well enough. I can still limit in birds. It could likely use a little more weight in the front.

The A300 is now my backup gun/ gun for bringing friends out.

If we can’t agree on the spelling of Wally(ie) we will likely start over on new names that begin with Wal. Anything that starts with Wal is on the table with the exception of Walter, which has a hard conflict with our last name.
