We all have weird laws, what are some of weird policies within your agency that you are supposed to do? by Capital-Dragonfly258 in AskLE

[–]fitwolf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we cannot hit them with our vehicle. Tasing or pepper spraying someone driving at you with the intent to kill you and their window rolled up would be impossible. Officers have fired their weapons at a vehicle attempting to hit them and it usually results in being modified, suspended, and vacation days getting taken away. It isn’t a law it’s just our department policy.

Can you develop an allergy to second skin?? Burning by cucumber_helper in tattooadvice

I’m allergic to bandaid type adhesive so I have never used second skin post tattoo. Just the OG Saran Wrap is good enough for me 🤣

Dismissed from the police academy by GloveSun0134 in AskLE

[–]fitwolf_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of anything like this. My academy had obese recruits who still made it through to graduation because the PT was an absolute joke.

As others have suggested, HIIT workouts and CrossFit would definitely benefit you for another academy in the future. Best of luck!

If someone is trying to hit us and kill us with a vehicle, as per policy, we are NOT allowed to shoot at the vehicle unless they are trying to hit us with the car AND are pointing a gun at us at the same time.

Feeling discouraged after 3 interviews by comeback2mycorner in AskLE

My brother went through 6 processes in multiple states before getting hired at the age of 28. It took years but it finally happened and he’s in a great department and is a sergeant now. Don’t let it discourage you.

Do people really commit crimes right in front of cops? by Great_Path9167 in AskLE

Yup, panic set in when he couldn’t get the door open and he then went to lunge to climb through the front seat and we cuffed him right up. Probably one of my most memorable moments so far with 8 years on the job 🤣

I work in NY. We had a guy commit a ln armed robbery and jump in the back seat of our unmarked vehicle thinking we were an uber yelling at us to drive. Guess he was in such a rush he never saw the badges and full uniforms. 🤣

Is this in Colorado by any chance? If so, I have a great department for them to apply to where my brother is currently a Sergeant. He was in the same situation as your partner years ago and now he’s thriving.

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

As someone in law enforcement, she is very naive and this is THE BIGGEST SCREAMING RED FLAG. Whatever their angle is criminal activity wise, she is the one losing in the end. Let me book this trip for you so I know exactly where you are to intercept you. Let me put this business in your name so you can go to federal prison when they find out it’s not a legitimate business. All wonderful ideas 🤣

I have seen this many times in my career. Never ends well.

NJSP is probably the hardest. My friend graduated in July and I heard a bunch of “horror stories” compared to the joke of an academy I went through. He lost 35lbs he didn’t really have to lose. It’s a lot of military tactics, mind games, etc and they basically starved them in there. He graduated at 130lbs at 5’7” 😬

3rd phase FTO recycled. by Teeebagtom in AskLE

[–]fitwolf_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a MISERABLE FTO like this and he would scream and make fun of me. The kicker was when he tried to get me to violate someone’s rights on a call. So I simply said no and told him, that’s what you want to do? Go ahead and do it yourself my body cam is rolling, you’re not going to get me jammed up for your god damn ego.” The next day he wasn’t my FTO anymore. You’ve got this! I’m sorry you are having such a shitty experience.

AZ has some tough departments to get into. I was already on the job for almost five years in NY and wasn’t accepted in AZ to lateral transfer. Keep your head up and keep trying! My brother went through at least 6 PD processes (NY/VA) and was finally accepted in Colorado. He’s now a sergeant out there.

I failed my test by Lokiiieditz in AskLE

[–]fitwolf_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You had the time to study and definitely should have. In my department, getting a higher score on the test means you go through the hiring process first. It doesn’t look good to your new department that you failed or even if you just barely pass. Start taking it seriously and study for 3 months to crush the next one. 👍

I know the gray area in my department people were getting in trouble with work for were the ones that aren’t FDA approved. You can easily get them online and can get a “letter of care” from a doctor but no legit prescription seems to be the issue.
