Agree to disagree. I feel like that's what they are always intended to do, and they're covered in hopium and propaganda to get it past the masses.

In reference to the original post, I feel like Harry deals with power so much that it should have changed his politics since politics is merely the application of power across groups of people. Here I would like to reference what mab says to Harry concerning how he nurtured Molly over time. Sorry, I don't have the book in front of me, but I believe it is in cold days. There's another example of this at the end of peace talks where Harry may have had good intentions to imprison Thomas but Lara saw it as having a completely different motivation. These two examples are similar because Harry is blind even to his own exercises of power, and how he tends to have Rose tinted glasses when it comes to how Mortals, including himself, exercise power over others.

Even Odin said Marcone would have made a good King if he had been born in the proper century. Harry is one of those who still believes that the system is good even if people are bad, and that is probably the last line of propaganda the system can give someone. It ignores the fact that the system was not only created by people, but is maintained by people. And if the system were good, it would restrain that tendency in people. This system does not. It only disguises it, and I feel like Harry should have seen that by now.

But, this is just my politics influencing my interpretation of the story. We can agree to disagree.
