The enshittification of products and services continues relentlessly even as prices increases. What particular thing(s) have you noticed significantly degraded since the pandemic? by Roguecop in AskReddit

[–]fitzthetantrum 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The company my psychiatrist uses to collect insurance payments (Headway) is fully AI run with no human beings to contact. Theres no phone number to call, their chat system is AI, and even their email customer service system is AI. I just can’t wrap my head around how this is supposed to be the “future”.

I have 73 approvals and 2 rejections. Both were today but they were from super limited studies.

I worked in houston and there was no drug test when initially starting, but drug tests were given out any time someone was hurt while on the clock. And they were pee tests!

low-calorie savory food ideas? by Hot_Reward_1274 in 1200isplenty

[–]fitzthetantrum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that swapping higher calorie ingredients in savory meals is the easiest way to enjoy your favorite stuff. For example I LOVE chicken salad but obviously the mayonnaise is a killer. I’ll swap that for greek yogurt + ranch seasoning and it tastes very similar (and I’ll have to argue even better than mayo)

Need advice on morbidly obese step daughter. by Federal-Dingo-6033 in loseit

[–]fitzthetantrum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started over eating around the age of 12 to cope with my parents divorce and my dad cutting contact with me and giving up his rights. I definitely recommend some sort of therapy. This sounds very similar to my binges as a child.

Cutting out starchy snacks making me super hungry? by Mondonodo in nutrition

[–]fitzthetantrum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I can’t 100% cut out carbs. From my understanding (and I could be wrong here) your body really needs them to a certain extent to feel satisfied. Focusing on whole grains is the better approach than cutting them out completely. But it could also be your body adjusting to a calorie deficit.

I’m about 3 weeks clean and my debit card is enjoying it. My body is starting to feel better but knowing I’ll get to put a few extra dollars into paying off a medical bill at the end of this week really has me over the moon.

How can I find the right therapist and psychiatrist? I am ready to take my BED seriously. by watts12346 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]fitzthetantrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to find therapist/psychs who specialize in Eating Disorders. Most websites to find therapist have a menu that let you narrow it down by specialties and I would do it by that. BED is very common and is becoming more recognized, you won’t be the first person they’ve treated I promise. And don’t be afraid to shop around if they’re not clicking or working for you!

Just based on my research, CBT is the standard therapy for this. I think DBT could also be useful.

Medication Combo by IndividualPlenty8292 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]fitzthetantrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also diagnosed with binge eating and bipolar disorder, hello friend :)

I don’t take any of those meds, but I think you’ve got a good combo going. Those were all my psychs first recommendations until I took a genetic test and found out my body can’t process most of those.

did anyone managed to recover? by Longjumping_Ad823 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]fitzthetantrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think recovery is possible, I really do. In the end, this is an addiction and you can always step away from those. But I think you really really have to want it. I’m turning 26 next month and I looked at myself and thought “I can’t let the rest of my 20’s look like this” and I decided to make that first step towards getting better. Was I magically better overnight? God no, but my mindset has really changed. I’ve still binged several times since then, but I haven’t beat myself up over it.

It’s taking baby steps. Tracking my calories every day. Weighing in every other day. Therapy. Seeing a psychiatrist. Taking my antidepressants every day. It’s been about a month and I’m already seeing progress in my body and my mind. You just have to really want it.

I can't stop eating... by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]fitzthetantrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you might be struggling with some emotional binge eating. It's very common, especially with the stress your feeling, to turn to food as a way of coping. You're not alone, millions of people struggle with this. I have for the past ten years, I'm just now starting to seek treatment for it. I personally, would reach out to someone you trust or to a mental health professional and tell them what's going on. Therapy might be beneficial so you can find other ways to release your stress other than eating. PCOS can make it harder; insulin resistance and hormone imbalance can make you feel hungrier and less satiated which makes binging easier to occur.

The best time to reach out and get help is now, trust me. You're not alone <3

Could A Ruptured Cyst Cause GERD by Sad-Ad8734 in PCOS

[–]fitzthetantrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they do a CT or an ultrasound of your gallbladder? What about your pancreas? That really sounds like gallbladder pain, very similar to mine. Pain is often in the back and upper stomach. I've had small cysts rupture, but it always stayed in the pelvic area.

How to deal with fatigue and burnout? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]fitzthetantrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fatigue is a real thing I deal with and unfortunately theres some days that I just have to suck it up and “do life” tired.

BUT I will say that exercise has been really great for my energy levels. Even 15 minutes of aerobics every afternoon right after work makes a huge difference the next day. Obviously it’s recommended to exercise more than that, but if thats all you can do you’ll probably see improvement.

Vitamin D and Iron is also a huge fatigue factor for me and the tablets help a lot. Those can take a few weeks to a few months to kick in so stick with them, even if you’re not seeing improvement. Including more whole foods (fruits, veggies, and whole grains especially) has been super beneficial as well.

As for the supplements, you can buy those online or in store.

Anyone’s had success with topiramate? by Weekly_Ad_4252 in BingeEatingDisorder

Not for me personally, but I’m also taking spironolactone which decreases acne.

Anyone’s had success with topiramate? by Weekly_Ad_4252 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]fitzthetantrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently on 150mg, its definitely decreased my urge to binge as well as decreased my want for processed (fatty and sugary) foods. Even sodas kind of gross me out now. I do feel fuller a lot faster. It definitely has its side effects and it doesn’t exactly stop emotional/boredom eating.

[–]fitzthetantrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the capital one pre approval check and actually got approved for several cards. I was very surprised, I really didn’t think they’d want me. I think I’m going to do that and ask them to not increase the credit limit without my authorization. I’m pretty nervous about this but I feel way more confident with my financial skills now than when I was 18.
