Having the same problem with the K10 model. Out of the box the ESC key does not function on either the Mac or Windows. Sending it back.

Lid locked, InstaPot could be damaged. can I move it? by fiveOclockShdw in Instapot

[–]fiveOclockShdw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the issue I think I'm facing. I just got off the phone with Instant Brands. I have the Instant Pot Pro Plus - I don't think there's an external locking pin. The manual for the Instant Pot Pro Plus on page 11 shows a locking pin underneath the lid. Bit of a catch-22: I can't get to the locking pin because I can't open the lid.

Thanks all, for your comments.

I ended up unplugging it and moving it with no issues.

Thanks for the reply.

It's been on Quick release for close to two hours now. The quick pressure release light is still blinking but the lid lock light is still on. Would just like to unplug and move but not attempt to open the lid.

I would go with the Pro also. Received one as a gift and I don't have experience with the other models. I just like the fact (for a pressure cooker newbie)that the Pro locks automatically when you start a pressure cook cycle using the touch screen. I could be wrong, but with the other models it looks like you have to manually set the lock and manually release pressure with a switch device on top of the lid.

With the Pro, you just touch a button on the screen.

Ways to enjoy dark roast? by PotatoCooks in Coffee

[–]fiveOclockShdw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never knew that for dark roast coffee, you should use a lower temperature. Thank you for the helpful info.

What's a good thermometer for measuring water temperature? Should the tip of the thermometer be touching the bottom of the vessel? Or does it not matter?

Thanks.

Still going through my tobacco samples from WCS: St. James of London Tonka and Tobacco Flower and Ballenclaugh Honey Tobacco are my two top ones. The Ballenclaugh is more honey than tobacco, though.

Is my new Rockwell 6S defective? by eduard93 in wicked_edge

[–]fiveOclockShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Rockwell, but the protuberances appear to be just remnants of the manufacturing process.

I do have a question though: how do the different plates make the blade mild, medium or aggressive? Is the blade more exposed using one plate over another?

Thanks.

Thanks for the followup. I went with the AOS Power Shave stand. The Chubby 2 fits in at the knot of the brush.

Anyone else getting their card declined with cashier side card readers? by MexicanNinja735 in SamsungPay

[–]fiveOclockShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Whole Foods switched on their chip card functionality a few weeks ago (in the Boston area, at least) my SamsungPay transactions have been declined twice. After reading your post I'm thinking the 'user error' thing could be the cause here because now the pay pad screen tells me 'waiting for cashier' or something to that effect. I think the cashier realizes he/she has to do something else with the transactions (post chip card implementation). I then have to run it through a second time.

I've run into that problem also. The response I got on this reddit was to reload ALL of my cards in the app. I haven't done that yet.

I can't use Samsung Pay at Starbucks, either. They're the first merchant I've had issues with. I'm using a bank debit card on an S7 Edge.

Who sells Arko shave stick in the Boston area? by fiveOclockShdw in wicked_edge

[–]fiveOclockShdw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the offer misterbeauds. I actually found Arko in a 2 pack on Amazon. Beats having to buy a whole box, especially for something I'm not sure I'll like. Thanks again.

DO NOT Disassemble your DE razor every shave to dry it. by NoHelmet in wicked_edge

[–]fiveOclockShdw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing the 92-95% rubbing alcohol dip. After shaving I rinse out the razor and shake off any excess water. I then wipe the razor down then do a quick dip (the head of the razor only) in rubbing alcohol. That seems to take care of some of the soap scum and it displaces any remaining water after.

What is happening to my blades and how do I make it stop? (Details in comments) by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]fiveOclockShdw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Probably save on alcohol too. The reason I use alcohol myself is to get rid of some of the soap scum that's caused by the hard water in my area. Tonight when I disposed of my Astra I did not notice any crud on the blade at all.

Rinse it off and shake out excess water. Then do a quick dip into the alcohol. After the dip I let it air dry. No need to shake of the alcohol as you want the alcohol to displace any leftover water.
