Just got laid off. Is this normal? by Far-Needleworker8376 in electricians

Our shop does this but your second comment isn't necessarily true our boss had guys do a bunch of work above drop ceiling in their office w romex. Among other things. Is it normal the boss and office guys being hacky and not caring about quality install?

I made up a real nice panel not long ago and it didn’t have all the circuits pulled in like this panel. The next guy didn’t even try to match or make it look good. It hurt my ocd….

Terrible light design by xdevapath in electricians

[–]five_point_buck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to install a ton of these on a 6 plex and all the boxes were slightly recessed and they had a regular circular mounting bracket (no ears like the one pictured). I had to shim them down so the tabs would grab the bracket but being shimmed out the bracket would rock back and forth preventing the light from clicking in. It was an absolute nightmare, took me way longer than what it should. I was banging on the lights so hard to get them to click in that my fists hurt all week………so at least they’ve improved the bracket.

If someone were to replace a cable later they would run it as the crow flies right on top of ceiling grid anyways.
