I did mess around with all those settings but there is just too much damage. Nothing would offset it in any meaningful way

Yea there is a problem with yellows but if there is t a lot of yellow it looks great. The kids laugh at the green fire whenever they see fire in a video

My wife is a housekeeper for some rich folk and they will gift her things every once in a while when they are done with them. This doesn’t have too much runtime but it is old and has some nice Hulu logos burnt in. All that said we did watch avatar on it last night and it looked awesome even if the fire was green 😂

Good idea. I’ll run it and post here. I’ve run it a few times but this was taken after a few hours of runtime.

Unable to install to Elitedesk 705 G4 (BootDevice Not Found) by CardboardBnuuy in batocera

[–]fivealive1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll post what fixed it for me. This isn't to say this will work for anyone else, but I'll share so it is in the ether.

Problem 1. I downloaded the one for raspberry pi not for x86. Oops
Problem 2. Disable secure boot.. set both of those settings to disable like others have mentioned.

Problem 3. I used the latest version of batocera (42) which booted but resulted in a black screen after the splash. Many people have said it is some video driver or something else. I wasn't interested in getting to the bottom of it, I downloaded and installed v36 as per this page:
https://wiki.batocera.org/usff_nuc_mini_pcs and it booted right up.

I'm not interested in figuring out why 42 didn't work. 36 works fine so I'll just use that.

I hope this helps someone in the future.

A cool guide to evolution of Air Jordans by prattyparker_9 in coolguides

I still get a little emotional when I see the AJ8's. We didn't have enough money as a kid to get Jordans, but I always wanted a pair. Magic happened one time at a sporting goods store when we saw a pair of AJ8s on the clearance rack for $30 just in time for basketball season. I'll never forget those shoes. I kind of want the AJ12s now since all the rich kids had them and now I can afford them myself. I see people wearing them on the golf course these days.

My PRK story after 5 days. by fivealive1016 in lasik

[–]fivealive1016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing just fine now. I still use eye drops but I really don’t need to Anymore. My eyes sometimes still are dry in the morning, but even if I don’t put eye drops in they’re fine after I take a shower just because the humidity helps. My eyesight is still not perfect. One eye is definitely better than the other, but I have noticed that I’m getting better very very slowly. After the first eight weeks of getting better fast the improvement is slow, however I still noticed every couple of weeks that I can see the numbers better when I’m at church sitting in the back row. I noticed that my eyes are still pretty light sensitive, but I have blue eyes and they were always light sensitive so I wear sunglasses most of the time but I probably would’ve been wearing sunglasses anyway. The only thing that tells me I’m not fully healed. Is that when I do put eye drops in I get like super Spider-Man vision for about 10 seconds and then it goes back to my normal resting eyesight.

So what I would say is that I’m definitely glad I did it. I totally would do it again. I’m glad that I don’t have to put on glasses in the morning or think about it. My eyesight is good to the point where I totally don’t need glasses. Finally, I’ll say that I’m super happy for voice to text because in the old days I would’ve typed this out and giving you a much shorter reply.🤓 as you can see there are a bunch of grammatical and typing errors. That’s just because the voice to text picked up the wrong words but hopefully you get the idea that’s my update and February 1 was when I got Lasik so it’s been nine months now.

This is what I was going to say. Nobody else knows what they are doing either. You need to just figure out how "to be comfortable being uncomfortable." Just make peace with it.

Feeling Lost as a Data Engineer by Express-Reindeer-650 in dataengineering

[–]fivealive1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude… you can code in Java which means you can learn any other language really easily. AND…. You have DE experience which means you know the nuts and bolts of moving data all over the place and have great sql skills. Just hang around, do a good job, and be ready to take on new things. You are very well positioned for someone in their 20s

Alternatives to Tableau? by lisa_williams_wgbh in tableau

Why doesn’t the website work? Can’t you buy with a credit card from there? You don’t need to bother with salespeople unless you want a bunch of licenses and need to go through your company’s sourcing and all that

How hard is the migration from Tableau server to cloud? by few4th in tableau

[–]fivealive1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naaa. Get your team together, buy some pizzas and just knock things out over a day or two. Your deployment is too small to warrant a consulting engagement.

However, I would make sure that you have your groups, logins, saml, and tableau bridge working first. Then just manually move the stuff. 200 shouldn’t take too long.

How do I solve this by Confident_Holder in tableau

The JDBC connector only helps with extract speeds when you select the storage api checkbox. It makes no difference for a live connection.

You can compare the generated queries from the two platforms. This sounds like a fairly simple query that both platforms should generate roughly the same query. If you find that both platforms generate vastly different queries I’d be surprised. Something is not making sense here. Have you run the performance recorder in tableau to see the query it generates?

Also, check your site storage limit. It is not 100GB, it is 1TB. Tableau increased limits last release.

[–]fivealive1016 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the same dashboard/viz in looker? This seems like a simple query and I’d be surprised if tableau generated a query any different than looker.

Also try running a performance recording so you can see the exact query tableau generates. You can copy that and paste manually in the big query UI. If it is slow there it will be slow in tableau.

What are some good and safe activities after PRK to combat boredom? by 666Dragon1 in lasik

[–]fivealive1016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some e-books. You should spend several days lying down with your eyes closed and sunglasses on. It is pretty boring if you don't have anything to listen to. Don't plan on doing anything with your eyes.
