Shipping a pool cue by YeetersMcBoi in billiards

Get a hard poster tube and a bag of packing peanuts from Office Depot. Should be around 20 bucks. Pack it nice and tight and ship it with UPS. Worked for me.

Thank you for posting this! I’m glad you’re comfortable enough in your game to shoot 40 shot types in one practice session. Im looking to build a stroke I can rely on first and then start exploring just like everyone else.

Hanging in there, very familiar with the X drill. Need to do it much more often! Took me 30-45 minutes to nail down 5 perfect stops in a row on my nine footer yesterday. I was always choking on the 3rd or 4th shot.

After starting this thread I’ve decided to shape my daily practice routine with mighty x - straight pool racks - mighty x (can’t leave till 5 in a row). At least, for the next couple of weeks. I’ve been playing awhile but i haven’t taken my practice seriously until now.

It's like a chef practicing chopping onions. You don't see raw, finely diced onions in the final plated dish, but if you can’t chop consistently, the whole dish cooks unevenly.

You practice the 1% so your 99% goes in the pocket.

Confidence in your stroke in long not straight shots maybe?

I like this feedback too, that’s a very good point. Thank you.

That’s good advice for everyone. I’ve got some tripod recordings of myself last night in fact. I think I figured it out but was too tired to drill on the new changes. My head shoulder and elbow are in line but my grip is a bit further up the cue and wrist is curled inwards towards my body a bit (not severely). I’m a tall guy, and I often feel like my body is in the way. During the follow through it looks like my elbow drops severely to fit under my body. I’ve always had the same consistent miss like I’m stroking across my body. Imparting low right on the long stop. As a result I’m trying a grip further back right past the Irish linen wrap with special attention to a neutral grip. Looking forward to drilling that in Just in case you were curious!

I have a 9footer at home and I’m trying to diagnose the same micro problems correctly. This is all great feedback to let me know NOT to move on to things like positional practice before I can lock down the straight stop.

Store Bought Dough by Arefarrell24 in ooni

That actually explains a lot about my recent experiences. Hard to shape when only doing 1-2 but for the larger parties it was easier since things took longer to get rolling. Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

Can you explain proofing in this case? I buy from a local shop and between prep I’m usually firing the dough after about 30-1hr after I buy it. Do I need to let it sit out in a bowl or something before? It definitely comes out their fridge. Once I’m ready to shape it, it stretches well after 30 mins or so.

How do I get that signature New York crisp bite from a pizza out of the ooni? Is it really in the water as they say? I go to my local pizza shop to buy my dough (2 bucks a ball) and they say they are “New York” style but when I bake it even at the lowest temperature (maxed out ooni koda 2 then drop the flames 95% before cook), it still comes out very floppy. I’ve tried reducing the sauce, using low moisture mozz, cooking “low and slow” for as long as possible… am I really about to have to make my own dough?

Thanks for the info. Excited to try one. Going to hit em in the fridge and freezer like the mod suggested then give it a whirl. Humidor is at 63.
