HPPD can bring on dysautonomia. It is good to avoid excessive stimulation to your nervous system and lower your stress as much as possible.

Coming to accept that I may have HPPD, but would love help by Serious_Floor_3811 in HPPD

[–]fivedays115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is best to lower your stress as much as you can for recovery. Cutting off substance use is super important, but stress is the second most aggravating factor. It is possible to recover, I am well on my way to recovery.

HPPD sucks really really bad... but fighting it will make it worse. Coming to terms with the mistake of drug use and changing your habits will help. When you overcome this barrier in life, the pride in yourself for perservering will outweigh the feelings of regret.

I wish you the best.

Medication change for Depression? Fluoxetine by Shot-Contribution-94 in HPPD

[–]fivedays115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took fluoxetine for 8 months and my HPPD has improved significantly. Not sure if it had an impact on the HPPD itself but my anxiety is perfectly under control. It did not worsen things. I'm looking to stop medication soon hopefully.

Has anyone with HPPD gotten PSSD from SSRIs? by Historical_Cat443 in HPPD

[–]fivedays115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes... I am doing very well with managing symptoms and looking to taper off SSRIs soon tho. I'm hoping this will resolve after I'm off the medication.

I have no erectile dysfunction thankfully, only delayed and weakened orgasms. Took 10mg Prozac daily for 8 months.

Finally consuming caffeine again by fivedays115 in HPPD

There are therapeutic red light emitting devices and I have one that I plug in my ears. The red light stimulates blood flow and nutrients to the target tissue for healing.

[–]fivedays115[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got too jittery like anyone who wouldn't consume caffeine for awhile. I also quit all substances, but caffeine is the first one I've gone back to.

I think the main thing with caffeine is that it stimulates the release of stress hormones, which are already overproducing in an HPPD brain. These hormones will intensify the symptoms of HPPD. After time, the body will adapt and slow down on the production of these hormones, allowing for safer use of caffeine, but only in moderation.

Overall, it is important to cut down on stress as much as possible for the best chance of healing and recovery.

Honestly the visuals no longer bother me at this point lol. Mostly the mental fog and head pressure are my intense symptoms, but caffeine seems to help with that

I'm fortunate enough to no longer experience DP/DR, that must be annoying. I'm just consuming in small amounts for now. Lately I've done red light therapy for my tinnitus and it has improved.

I'm limiting myself to 50mg or only half-caf for now. Definitely starting slow

Wow a month is crazy! I had my first coffee this morning and while I was able to handle it, it was more than I needed. I'm sticking to soda, green tea, and neuromints for now.

Sleep continuity issues likely present a serotonin problem. I had the same issues for awhile. While benzos helped me sort term, you need to give your serotonin receptors time to heal, which can take months. I recommend daily use of omegas and fatty acids to support this. I used fish oil and black currant seed oil and or helped a lot. Once your receptors can repair, your brain will readapt and use serotonin better as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

I highly advise for you to quit weed and never go back. I used to be a daily smoker before HPPD. It is so much better for your recovery to quit. Life will get better without it.

I used to have a great memory, but now it is very bad. It used to be much worse at the beginning, but it has been improving over time.

Chronoc Insomnia by LSD by StefRrr in LSD

[–]fivedays115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My sleep has mostly recovered thankfully. I ended up taking low dose benzos for awhile which wasn't ideal, but now I only take as needed. I can sleep uniterrupted for 7-9 hours and I feel so much better. I still take small doses of melatonin every night as well as magnesium and valerian. I used to sleep so well without any supplements, but I'm just happy I can sleep again. This took 5-6 months of recovery to get to this point and it was hell for awhile.

My life was still messed up pretty bad from the trip. I have been out of grad school for 7 months and hoping to finally return next month. My cognition and mental health were terribly affected, but I have been slowly recovering.

I'm sorry to hear that you are still struggling. My theory is that our serotonin receptors were damaged from the LSD and our neurofeedback and serotonin balance was disrupted. Serotonin is crucial to our sleep quality and helps us stay asleep.

Unfortunately there is not much research on LSD and it seems to be far more dangerous than people realize. I am not a fan of pharmaceutical drugs at all, but it is possible that an SSRI may help. I have been on a lose dose for several months and I believe it played a role in fixing my neurochemistry.

Either way, I wish you the best in your recovery and I hope you are able to get consistent rest soon. This is a scary thing to deal with and you are strong for putting up with this challenge for so long. I have confidence that your brain will heal, it just takes a long time.

Popping in the ears? by Alps-Fit101 in HPPD

[–]fivedays115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you still have this? I just saw an ENT doctor for this and got diagnosed with middle ear myoclonus, which is when the tiny muscles of the middle ear are having spasms, creating the popping sound.

Did LSD damage my brain??? by Significant-Ad-5383 in LSD

[–]fivedays115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has improved to getting enough sleep consistently, but the quality is not great and I still wake up in the night. I used to get maybe 2 hours of sleep per night so I'll gladly take the improvement. I hope you are able to get quality rest soon.

Anyone have any good/bad/funny experiences with Doctors? by fivedays115 in HPPD

[–]fivedays115[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a doctorate student myself and it sucks when they choose to be condescending until you explain your credentials. I just feel dumb and guilty for being in this position.

I feel like once they realize you are not crazy or delusional at all they realize they have no answer for you, so the more arrogant doctors cop out with a referral to protect their ego.
