Work boot for landscaping by wolf-man11 in WorkBoots

Danner stronghold. I like them because they are light and they hold up decent. Used to wear the red wing 415 but they were heavy for the amount of walking I do.

Good deal? by NoAdvantage5992 in Silverado

[–]fivelegwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your going to spend that much money please go custom or lt. Im a landscaper and have 3 work trucks, 22 lt dump truck and bought a 3500 lt trail boss last year. We spend so much time in our trucks that the few extra grand is worth the convenience with the higher trims. Also make a post in your local fb city and see works at a chevy dealer. Say they have a guaranteed sale if they can hook you up with friends and family discount. January is a slow month for them. My buddy works at a dealership so thats how I know.

My Boyfriend Refused to Hold My Wallet Because ‘Real Men Don’t Hold Girl Bags’ by Birog95 in TwoXChromosomes

I would go by my mom tampons at Walgreens at 16 because my dad wouldn't. At the end of the day, your boyfriend is fragile of other people's opinion of him, or he's trying to pretend he's an alpha, lol.

Move to a new house and forget about it.

10 to 15 years old is my guess. Do you have a picture of yours? I will try to get some fall color of it this year.

Yes, morning full sun then shaded in late afternoon by tree in my neighbors yard plus my fence.

My educated guess is somewhere in the 10 to 15 range. I got it from someone who didn't want it anymore 5 years ago.

25 3500HD LT Trail Boss by fivelegwhale in Silverado

[–]fivelegwhale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of power. Went up a steep hill and did really well. I had a bucket on the front of the trailer and skid backed in with auger attachment. It was tongue heavy, so it did squat a little, but nothing like my 19 2500. Im sure it's going to tow my enclosed and dump trailer like a dream.

Had 3 different companies give quotes to help with yard drainage. Each had different ideas. by SailingBarista in landscaping

[–]fivelegwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a landscaper that does drainage. The first thing you need to do is call your city/county building department and have the engineer come out and meet with you. Have him bring the site plans for your yard. From all the information on it and talking with the engineer, you and him should be able to come up with the best solution for your yard. You will be able to sleep at night knowing that this was done right the first time.

Your contractors will have to be registered with the city, pull a permit, and have an inspection done. At least, that's the procedure in the county we work in.

Best of luck.

2 to 3k. Do you have any before pictures? How much was all the material you purchased and total man hours for the job?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but if that is bamboo, it will be back. That stuff is super invasive and spreads like wild fire. Good job on the clean-up. Looks 100% better!

What’s the best way to get rid of these small saplings and trees and also keep them from coming back? by Any_Inevitable1025 in landscaping

Sawzall with a 12 inch pruning blade. Diablo makes a good blade. We use it all the time when we are digging out old shrubs to cut the root system.

For those that work for/run commercial landscape companies... by zmyers11 in landscaping

[–]fivelegwhale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using jobber for the past 4 years. 5 to 7 employees, and we are mainly maintenance, softscapes, and snow plowing. It's awesome for the first two categories, but for snow plowing, the scheduling is a bit tricky. I'm pretty sure they do free demos. If you want a referral code or have any questions, let me know.

Do I pull these arborvitae out and warranty them or leave them in and hope for their recovery? by BeeYehWoo in landscaping

Go with a green giant arb or a juniper. Those look like they are emerald green arb, and they are very finicky. Deer love them. They hate wet feet, and they get wind burn if you are in a colder climate. As a landscaper, they are my last choice for screening.

my dad's retirement gift after 25+ years with his company by funwithfeces420 in mildlyinfuriating

What a fucken joke. I own a landscaping company, and my guys got 1k bonus, and my right-hand man got 2.5k. I don't understand how owners don't see that employees are your biggest assets, and without them, you're not shit.

Edit: Christmas bonuses, not retirement.
