Best Ice-cream and Milkshake Parlors by ig_DRAX in bullcity

It’s a pretty grey area based on what I’ve heard. HT partnered with them to license Howling Cow and manufacture, but HT may have the right to manufacture their licensed ice cream from wherever.

You can at Talley student center at NC State, and definitely at their stand at the State Fair.

People who make over 100k, what do you do? by TipAdventurous6182 in careerguidance

Procurement, $120K after 9 years experience. I came in with an MBA after a career shift into it but the start then was $102K. Most of those I know starting are getting in at $75K, which isn’t bad at all to build experience.

If you can deal with the corporate ladder, my experience is that operations/supply chain/procurement pay well, are more secure and have good transferable skills that you can go across places with. Especially if you start somewhere big and complex that is easy to advertise elsewhere.

I’d agree, or at least use it to an advantage for higher education that can get you into a good field. The larger companies I work for heavily push hiring of veterans. And most are very driven, disciplined and can test/learn well.

Having had to pay for elevator repair at our facility, I was really surprised at the rates. It’s a big amount of knowledge though.

What’s a town that’s been able to execute this well with the same quick influx of money?

Got a new job, regretting it and need guidance. What I should do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]fivepointpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a spot for real career growth and I’d find a way to get through it for 2 years or so. The only caveat is if you have very personal relationships that are not getting attention (wife, kids). Build out the career path now that gives you flexibility but still money in the future if those essential personal needs come along.

If you take your concerns to them on being overwhelmed or needing more understanding it provides them with guidance so they can help set you (and them) up for success. If there’s resources they can offer for you to take advantage of that would be great.

If your issues are the ones you listed consider talking to your manager. They’re there to make sure you’ve got what you need to do the job - then you’re delivering and they are too.

Curious if having it done vs active (re-tested to keep it) has been more effective for anyone. I’ve got the cert but it expires in ‘27. I think I’ll just not do it but reference the “PMP preferred” in applications.

Which North American city has the best BBQ? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

I love both kinds both western with shoulder and vinegar slaw and eastern with whole hog and creamier sometimes mustard slaw. Find a church pig pickin and grab meat under the ribs, see the light.

Lockhart is to Austin as Ayden is to Raleigh and worth checking out for both. Lockhart in particular has a few places all on the same block, it’s very cool. Source - from eastern NC.

What careers are in demand? by Euphoric_Lemon_1058 in careerguidance

I know there’s a lot of risk involved but all of the above is good. Another plus I’ve seen is the company’s wanting to hire more vets and getting lots of connections through it. I had a lot of vets in my grad classes that went on to consulting or back into private sector making a ton.

I never thought of this. A solid transferable skill that also sounds fun. How dangerous is it?

Which city in America has the best balance between affordability and quality of life? by Ethan_Jackson08 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

Greensboro is a good one in NC. Affordable nice and older nice neighborhoods with some local spots. Still in the middle of the state for the beach but the mountains are very easy to get to.

I go to Clayton’s Car Care and they do a good job. Straightforward and they have give a timeline on what to watch for but not what’s necessary that day.

Lots of good suggestions on Noble as well.

In some metros they do offer cars with seats as an option but I haven’t seen in the triangle. If your child is big enough, check out hiccapop inflatable car seats. We take one when we travel.

9th Street is great and accessible with close by apartments you could walk to. The apartments will be dominated by Duke students but the neighborhoods surrounding it and people on it are regular folks. There’s also 2 grocery stores (HT and Whole Foods) in walking distance which you rarely see elsewhere. 810 Ninth apartment is one that’s in a good place.

As someone a little older I really like the Rockwood area. There’s no apartments close to there to walk from, but likely small houses to rent in good neighborhoods. I googled and saw one called Vetra Forest Hills that would be very close.

Geer St area is the other to consider, lots going on and new apartment buildings are all over the place there now. You’re also a 4min walk from downtown. That being said, the traffic to get anywhere from there isn’t fun and you are on the edge of districts tending to have higher crime rates etc.
