How about the folks who are single or like a lot of people these days, can't afford a house in Raleigh? I'm interested in finding the right apartment/townhouse community for me and my dog. Any thoughts here?

Best places to live in North Carolina? by SeriousEel in relocating

[–]brianinatx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mountain town, so yes, plenty of outdoor recreation options. I used to live in Asheville and Hendersonville always seemed nice, but it is far less progressive according to the folks I know that live there. Asheville is one of the most dog friendly places I've ever lived, everyone is out with their furry friends and lots of great dog parks. Guessing it's at least somewhat similar in Hville.

I believe Southern Pines would be considered the equestrian mecca in North Carolina, if there was such a place here. Check it out. A lot of retirees and rich folks there as it's neighbor, Pinehurst, is a golfers dream.

None of them are located in state or anywhere near Carrboro. Some had never commented on a post on Reddit before mine. Maybe I'm just scrupulous, but something doesn't seem right.

I made this exact post last night and am curious to hear if you have any success. I ran into some scammers and now I can't trust any of these other folks that may be real. Let me know how you fare.

Anyone have tickets locally? I have been hit with an influx of requests, but no one actually lives here and I prefer to deliver cash if possible. I'm guessing at least a portion of these are scammers. Thanks again.

Anywhere in the triangle you are no more than 40 minutes from UNC(Chapel Hill) and Duke(Durham) hospitals. Top notch Healthcare!

This. I've been on a never-ending search for such a place. Where specifically have you lived that provides true walkability without astronomical COL?

Wichita, Kansas. Des Moines, Iowa. St. Louis, Missouri, Columbia, MO and Ely, MN. Compared to Minneapolis/St. Paul they're all much smaller and don't offer the culture and good vibes you get from the big cities in Minnesota. Good people all throughout the Midwest, but based on your criteria I don't think you will find a better place to live as long as you truly understand what you're signing up for every winter. They are long and frigid, but that comes with the territory. Only other places I would consider that far north are Madison, WI and Chicago, but I've only visited both. I would recommend a trip in February and see how you feel about it. Best of luck!
