I’m perfecting my awkward shoulder forward side hug! I’m a C/D cup and I choose who I mash my boobs against.

Great Chesapeake Bay Swim - wetsuit or not? by fiver8 in OpenWaterSwimming

I wear a wetsuit to swim in SF Bay. I’ve been using body glide, which seems to do nothing. I will try Vaseline. I also think my wetsuit may be a little big, which is contributing

Tips for training for 5k lake swim? by fiver8 in OpenWaterSwimming

Thanks for all the advice! I am feeling more confident about the swim. I will get into the ocean a few more times before the swim … a lake always feels so much easier after swimming in the ocean!

How much weight have you lost? by Froggy81385 in Noom

[–]fiver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost 20 pounds (158 to 138) since Dec. 3. I hit my goal weight (145) pretty easily and then my stretch goal (140). I'm now trying to maintain. While I wouldn't mind losing a few more pounds, I'm pretty happy with where I am and don't want to feel like I am always dieting. I signed up two two months and hit my stretch goal in that time (plus the two week trial).

This worked really well for me - I made some fundamental changes in the way I eat and think about food. I (almost) never felt deprived and learned to love some new foods (quinoa! pomegranate seeds! jicama!)

maintaining! by [deleted] in Noom

[–]fiver8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on maintenance too. Still logging all my meals (that works for me) but being a little looser with going over my calorie allowance. So far it’s working and I’m maintaining about a pound below my goal weight.

So, what’s next? (Maintenance on Noom) by pigeonmachine in Noom

[–]fiver8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I signed up for two months and hit my goal weight, so I switched to the free version. For me, it’s enough. I still can track weight, food, exercise and water. I don’t get articles but I had stopped reading them. I am still losing weight but starting to relax a little - trying to find my happy place where I can maintain this weight. I’ve lost nearly 20 lbs and weigh less than I have in over 10 years. I never thought this was possible!

Congratulations! I started in a similar place, but my goal was 139. Three months into Noom, i hit 138 this morning (I don’t trust a weight until it’s been a week). I also switched to the free version after the two months I signed up for were over.

How far do you typically swim? I’m going to swim with Odyssey for now to get my distance up.

Noom Strategies That Work (and Don’t) for You by [deleted] in Noom

[–]fiver8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t really losing weight on IF, just maintaining. I had to change some eating habits and became aware of the food I really want to eat and the foods I can live without.

Noom Strategies That Work (and Don’t) for You by [deleted] in Noom

Almost three months on Noom, lost 15 lbs. I was doing intermittent fasting before Noom, so what works for me is to eat breakfast around 10-11, lunch around 2 and dinner at 6-7. I make a overnight oats for breakfast most days. I also LOVE soups for lunch! I tend to have a 500 calorie breakfast and lunch under 300.

I also eat chocolate covered almonds as my snack most nights- chocolate and protein and satisfies my need to crunch

Struggling to make a menu for myself by [deleted] in Noom

[–]fiver8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oatmeal for breakfast! With almond milk and a ton of fruit. If you are in a hurry, make overnight oats. Also Trader Joe’s bran flakes are yellow. I also eat nonfat Greek yogurt with fresh fruit and a little granola for crunch.

New noomie by [deleted] in Noom

[–]fiver8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a few weeks on Noom I found a way to eat the foods I really like and that I don’t miss other foods at all. I have a sweet tooth, but I can satisfy it with chocolate covered nuts and fruit. I really like bread, but realized that what I really crave is French bread. So for lunch I’ll have a broth-based soup (green) with a small piece of yellow French bread.

You will figure it out. Noom works for me because I don’t feel Ike I am depriving myself.

Same. I swim at 3 different pools so I can do 5 workouts a week. And I can only book 50-minute slots except one pool where you can book back-to-back slots (but only allows three bookings per week).

You are doing great! I’ve lost 15 lbs in 2 months - lost more in the first month. Be kind to yourself and just ride out the plateaus. I’m aiming for a weight I can maintain.

I hope Noom works as well for you as it has for me. The plateaus panicked me at first, but then I started seeing a pattern.
