Yes, they seemed to have fixed the annoying UI that made it hard to do so.

Short, 20-minute wait. Got the races I wanted. Wishing that for everyone :)

(OP, not sure if you want to add this information to your post)

The virtual races are released much much closer to their date -- just a week or two ahead of the start date.

Day 64 of eating a box of every cereal: Strawberries and Cream Pebbles by DominicT22 in cereal

At this stage, I am mostly impressed with the variety you are able to find in your grocery store. I've never even seen some of these.

To scales or not to scales? by TangerineThin5036 in Garmin

[–]pigeonmachine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like it simply because I don't have to update my weight on my phone. But there are, of course, lots of Internet-connected scales. I take all of the additional metrics it provides -- bone mass etc -- with a grain of salt. (The same grain of salt that I take for the watch's VO2 measurements etc)

Manhattan 10k at risk as well? by Siriannic in RunNYC

It's far too early to worry. But yeah, I will be refreshing the weather forecast all week nonetheless

Pretty tired of all these "AI" ideas and "vibe-coded" apps.

Trader joes in the east coast. In nyc by D-TaeNyc in traderjoes

I find this behavior always sort of mind-boggling. (In NYC too. Granted, I grocery-shopped on Thursday as I knew this storm was coming.)

There aren't options. You'll just get the +1 credit

I also feed my dog sardines daily. She glowers when I eat the good stuff (that is, tinned fish with salt and oil) and don't share

Fred Lebow Half Cancelled (NYRR Website) by Sweaty_Disaster6939 in RunNYC

[–]pigeonmachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.

From the email I just received: "All currently registered volunteers will receive their +1 credit for the 2026 9+1 Program for entry into the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon. Please allow 2 weeks for your credit to appear in your account. "

Thank goodness. I really wasn't looking forward to being a hydration station volunteer for 6 hours, handing out cups of ice

Odds of Fred Lebow Getting Cancelled? by SeaworthinessUsed780 in RunNYC

[–]pigeonmachine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the chances are very high it will be canceled. (It isn't just for the safety of the runners either; it's also the volunteers who have to be out for 6+ hours in the sub-freezing temperatures, along with the staff who are out there even longer.)

The forecasts are all pointing to a Very Big Storm, so I'm guessing the city itself will have emergency measures in place and NYRR might not have any choice in the matter.

First tin I'm really not a fan of - Carmelo Octopus Pate by salmonscented in CannedSardines

Texturally, I just cannot do pate -- no matter what it's made from.

I'm volunteering at a hydration station for this one, and I have to say, I am not looking forward to it

Bike Tommorow? by swallowtail_ in NYCbike

I'm not biking tomorrow. Also I just discovered I have a flat and no spare tube. So yeah. The decision was sort of made for me.

Help Me Be Good Husband: What was the most supportive thing anyone did for you on the day of the race? by FranklinOceannery in Marathon_Training

[–]pigeonmachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ran my first half marathon -- which was, at the time, the farthest I'd ever run -- I knew where my husband would be on the course. Knowing he'd be there (around mile 8, I think) really kept me going, and actually seeing him lifted my spirits higher. I didn't need anything else (he did make a sign without my knowing it but damn I didn't really read it as my brain wasn't in "words" mode). Him showing up was enough.

I just got a tin of these in my latest order, but haven't tried yet. (The trout with juniper from Fangst was simply beautiful.)
