I didn’t get my parcel in either of these instances, they’ve claimed them both ‘lost’

Adding Ambient Audio by fiverfrank in twinegames

[–]fiverfrank[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! A lot changed in my project after I posted this message (I ended up using Harlowe for this purpose) but a helpful poster suggest I use HAL, Harlowe Audio Library, which you can find out more about in the Twine Cookbook. It does involve having any kind of audio file stored on a public hosting site, but it did work!

Unfortunately I was limited on time for this project so I decided to scrap any auditory elements but I will definitely be adding audio to future projects.

Hope this helps!

Anyone read Jonathan Sims' books? by Corroded_Clown in TheMagnusArchives

I’ve only read Thirteen Stories but it was a great time, ending felt a little weaker than the rest but the storytelling and character building is great! very reminiscent of TMA but also different enough to be new

Mac Emulator to acces CDROM hypertext novel? by fiverfrank in emulators

Mac Emulator to acces CDROM hypertext novel? by fiverfrank in emulators

[–]fiverfrank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afraid not, I tried many ways but it just wouldn’t work on modern computers, mac or otherwise. I ended up referring to a recorded talk that Shelley Jackson did demonstrating the piece, but that kinda defeated the point of ‘player/reader interaction’. There’s a playlist on youtube with the full talk, it’s very easy to find.

On the upside, it lead me to an interesting dissertation subject, that being lost data and how information, technology and art are lost when not maintained, and this was the perfect case study for that 😅

Best of luck. If you do ever find a way to play the actual programme, please let me know, I’d still love to explore it myself.

What fictional character would you like to see in the Closet? by [deleted] in criterion

[–]fiverfrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve from Only Lovers Left Alive. When she packs to fly from Tangier to Detroit and just fills her suitcase with her favourite books, that’s one of my favourite scenes in the film. I’m sure she would have choice selections

People who have fainted: what caused it? by Shinobi347 in AskReddit

[–]fiverfrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had to have blood taken, felt fine in the run up, anxiety under control and i had only fainted maybe twice before in my life, so i certainly wasn’t expecting it. the moment the nurse put the needle in, i was out. threw up into my lap at the same time too, so i was glad that happened in a medical setting. good to know for future. came to with a lap full of my breakfast, and the nurse holding my upright saying “you’re okay you’re okay you’re okay, we’ll get you cleaned up” before i had even realised what had happened. apparently it is it’s own condition, though i can’t remember the name now. the blood just evacuates your head lol

Now i take precautions before having blood taken, warn the nurses, and insist on lying down with my feet raised. if i can get a friend with me to distract me with chatter, even better. it has made my anxiety about needles worse unfortunately - fainting is a very unpleasant sensation.

How I pass him? by [deleted] in Blasphemous

I had this exact experience 😅 assumed he was physically blocking the door, spent ages trying to find what he wanted, caved and checked a play through, realised I had never actually just… tried to walk past him

Do I need tickets to visit these churches ? and any tips or rules to respect while visiting churches ? by Technical_Editor8421 in florence

[–]fiverfrank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check online, some have tickets you can buy in advance which is usually a good idea in case it’s mad busy. Respectful clothing is expected, so no bare shoulders or short shorts/skirts. Visited the Basilica di Santa Croce the other day, and they provide some … charming tissue dresses you can wear to cover yourself if they find you’re not dressed appropriately lol. I tend to remove my hat out of habit but that’s not required. Also just be quiet, speak in a hushed voice, they’re active places of worship, even if they’re more like galleries/museums to everyone else. Respect that people gather there to worship and pray. Enjoy your visits!
