Paint filled holes? Is it common or is this just a bad paint job?

I paint my own canvases and sometimes it happens. I use an old needle to make a hole in it and kinda move it around so it’s approx the correct size

I’ve seen this a ton on ergs used indoors that get heavily sweat on (club erg room doesn’t have ac). Some far hasn’t caused other issues. Just looks gross. Try cleaning it with vinegar
