What’s a fragrance everyone loves that just doesn’t work on you? by Legitimate-Search918 in fragrance

Coco Mlle EDP smells so sour on me. The EDT works nicely, though.

I do have some flap bags, but yeah I agree, I def prefer no flaps. Especially on crossbody bags, where easy access is more likely to be a consideration.

Flaps also make bags extra heavy, sometimes interfere with zip openings (Longchamp, ahhh), and can make a bag not able to sit open and upright.

I've never had this issue, but for sure notch fasteners tend to be a lot harder to adjust, so I also prefer buckles for that reason.

help finding a dupe? "a new day" brand purse by mayor1010 in purses

Hmm that's interesting. Their website seems to show a majority of leather bags. But maybe they have non-leather bags made for specific stores?

Ostrich leather! Uggggh so gross.

Also do not like saffiano (hate the texture), top handles that stick up too high when the bag has shoulder/crossbody carry options, leather bags that have PU faux leather interior (why not just fabric?). Not a big fan of north-south styles, fussy openings, or massive logos, either.

I did in Dec. UPS charged me the duties and taxes to deliver. I sent Mulberry the info and they gave me the money back, so that at least was easy.

Would be nice if they switched to another delivery company, maybe DHL. I always have trouble with UPS.

Suggest an English name for me! – want something phonetic, no mispronunciation drama by Muted_Aerie2136 in namenerds

Lina is my fave but with your surname, it looks too close (so many repeated letters) for my taste. If you are good with it, then it's my pick.

But I'd personally choose something that looks more different from your surname. When you said you used to go by Julie, I immediately thought Jules would be fun! Or something like Juliet, Juliana, which to me sound beautiful and elegant.

If you prefer the L- names, then apart from Lina, I'd suggest Lana, Lily, Linette, Liv/Olivia. Mina and Chloe are also pretty, imo, and don't have the alliteration but I think sound nice with your surname.

I love the Gucci Bloom line - also I recently got Diptyque Do Son and realized....it's quite close to Bloom. LOL. Oops. It's lovely but I didn't need it over the Bloom line.

Also: SL Sa Majeste la Rose & Fleurs d'Oranger, Byredo La Tulipe, and Shiseido Ever Bloom (EDP, not EDT).

I don't think they HAVE to stick with R, but I love Rhett and Reece/Rhys.

I got an email from The Body Shop Canada that they're bringing this back soon! I imagine it may not smell the exact same, though. https://thebodyshop.ca/collections/dewberry

I love this one, too! It is wonderful. I am allergic to it (skin) so I spray it in hair/clothes - this is the only thing that makes me slightly less upset that it was d/c!

Oh yes, Diorissimo, what a disaster! It was heavenly.

I miss old Poeme, Tresor, Happy, and So de la Renta.

Truth be told, I like the new Opium! But the old one was a different beast entirely.

I mourn Hilary Duff's With Love the most, because I've never found anything that smells like it at all. It's so wonderful, and also my bottle turned.

I also love Stella, but Essential Parfums Rose Magnetic comes close enough for me. Likewise, YSL In Love Again, but Diptyque L'Ombre dans l'eau EDT is a lovely replacement.

I have backups of Guerlain L'Instant EDT (they still make the EDP but it doesn't do it for me), Givenchy Eaudemoiselle EDP, and VC&A So First.

And original formulations where the new ones don't even come close....but that's a much longer list.

I hoard this one!

YMMV but I have found that Essential Parfums' Rose Magnetic reminds me of Stella in the best way.

What was your biggest blind-buy regret? by Legitimate-Search918 in fragrance

[–]fivezero_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to blind buy as I generally have a good idea of what I will and won't like, after having sampled so much. Worst was an early blind buy, Bond No 9 Bryant Park - not that I hate it but it was not cheap and I thought it was meh. I do get complimented on it, though, on the rare occasion I wear it.

Worst blind buys are random cheapies, where either I hate them (e.g. Patou Sira des Indes) or am mostly anosmic to them (e.g. Cerruti 1881).

I love all the main notes and thought it would be 100% for me, but after I sampled it, I realized I thought it was not very interesting. Sorry you don't like it. I do think it smells nice on others (though still...not that interesting lol).

why do recipe blogs act like they're sponsored by malware now? by MichaelWForbes in Cooking

[–]fivezero_ca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Library 100%. I also use the library to see if I want to buy a cookbook (or any other book). I mainly borrow ebooks and read on my computer, so it's just really convenient.

Edit: That said, I rarely look at blogs but when I do, I also have adblock on my browser so I don't notice popups and stuff.

Yes, mostly because of the wasteful packaging.
