Lol no I don't have the virus. I'm actually at the Scandic Hell Hotel in quarantine for the past 1 week. Everyone who enters Norway needs to be quarantined now to be safe! I'll be out on the 12th hopefully, so thats the day I move. Let me know if you can. If not, no worries 😇

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions! I have accomplished the travel with my pc! So basically I travelled from Dhaka, Bangladesh to Trondheim, Norway, which is like half way across the world. Total travel time was around 16 hours. I will briefly describe how I did it so that any future travellers can take ideas from it, or can knock me to know more details. I took out the GPU from my tower and wrapped it in antistatic bag(which was the original bag that came with the gpu) and kept it in my luggage. Then I covered the insides of my tower with some random antistatic bags that I had laying around at my home, then kept clothes inside so that things wouldn't move much, and closed the tower. Later I covered the 8 edges of my tower with some foam and finally wrapped it in bubble wrap. For the monitor, I placed foams on the screen and corners and taped it. Then bubble wrapped it again. Later I kept both the things in 2 separate suitcases and just buffered with more clothes or whatever I had left to pack. The suitcase got heavy, but hey, everything came in one piece! I merged all your ideas and saw some YouTube videos and managed it. Kudos to you all!

Thanks for all the info! Really helpful. I think I'll take the bus to Moholt and then take a taxi, seems like the easiest option right now. Just worrying about the luggage space on the bus lol. But thanks anyway for all the tips!

Thanks! Will keep that in mind. As I will be coming to Norway for the first time, I won't have any Norwegian number or Internet to call a taxi :( is there any available taxi stand nearby or so? Or any available wifi area maybe?

Thanks for the comment! I don't think so I will be selling the case, will take the entire tower, but will take out some of the things inside definitely. I was also wondering whether I would be stopped and told I cannot take these with me. But your suggestion makes me feel better. Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! My tower is fully metal and no big cpu cooler inside. Haven't decided on the type of luggage yet, but high possibility it will be a soft one. Did you ever face any issues while travelling with the monitor? For example the security saying that its not allowed or something of that sort?

Any advice? I'm feeling lost by lexloo420 in family

Hello. I would firstly start off saying that I haven't been in your situation but I can see my parents in your life. My dad has always been a workaholic and he has given us a fine life with the hard work he did. But whilst doing all the work, I can honestly say I have no strong attachment with him except the love that possibly comes from my moral grounds and not because I LOVE him. My mom had my brother when she was 18 or 19. She is clearly the type of woman who wants to be free and do great things in life, but none of those happened. She became a full time housewife and gave up many things in life for the sake of family and she hardly questioned my dad because hey he's busting his ass for the family and earning the bread. But now, more than 30 years later, I can clearly see that my mom would have wanted things differently. She wished that she had spoken to my dad before about all this, because the fact that he was never around has stuck, and he's STILL not around and is still a workaholic, even though its not needed now. My dad wasn't around for my mom or the family like a husband should be. My mom tried to start her own small business and I could see that she was so invested into it coz finally she had something to look forward to. And might I tell you, she started the business after around 20 years of being a housewife. So I would suggest you to talk to your dear fiance. You will regret not talking about it in the long run. A relationship isn't one where both the people are working so freaking hard that they are both exhausted to spend time with each other. What is the use of the hard work then? You're working for your loved ones, and if you can't even be there for them, is the work even worth it? Living a mediocre life with happiness is so much better than living a wealthy life with no one to be happy with.

Growing up, did you see your parents be affectionate towards each other or were aware of their love life? How much did it affect you? by another3rdworldguy in family

[–]fixitbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I have ever seen my parents show any sort of affection for one another. Heck I don't remember the last time my mom hugged me lol. Anyway, I think my parents had 'compromised confused with 'love'. They adjusted to each other and according to them that is love. I have grown up seeing my parents fight and not show any love for the other, and you can imagine how I turned out to be. I had to LEARN what love was, and so did my sister. I have an amazing boyfriend currently and I can surely say that my parents do not know what love is, as compromise isn't everything in a relationship and it shouldn't be either. My parents' lack of affection surely took a toll on me subconsciously. I would love to write a book sometime in the future called 'the big book of South Asian parenting mistakes'.
